I'm waiting until I see the games that make me say "This is worth a new platform."  I figure I'll save a good hundred bucks by doing this.  But then, I usually only get games if they're on sale at launch or once they've been marked down, so... yeah.

Thrifty McSaveabuck, that's me.

The cheaper core system comes with an ordinary dvd drive that will play your dvd's fine.  The more expensive standard system comes with an hd-dvd drive, the backward-compatableness of I am uninformed of.

None of them come with HD-DVD drives yet.  But it's expected that in the future they will.

It is, however, a progressive scan DVD player. And not an altogether terrible one.

And Oblivion should be banned as an illegal substance the likes of crack, ice, boom, and pow.

Oblivion does indeed love me long time.

DOA 4 is a reasonable iteration of this franchise, which I've played but not owned before now so I'm happy.

Burnout is just fun as hell.

Dead Rising (or, from all appearances, Dawn of the Dead- The Video Game) looks pretty sweet, too.  And they are talking to Rockstar about the Grand Theft Auto series and to Rare about a downloadable multiplayer version of Goldeneye (!).  AND there's a rumor that they're going to be showing off an HD DVD drive at E3.

I knew I made the right console investment.  That, and I don't have $700 for a PS3.
