Well, anyone can always click on the little image that says "IP" to find out where someone's posted from.

And posting an IP address isn't a breach of privacy - IPs are public knowledge, and sent with every HTTP request.

In other words, don't expect anonymity on the internet.

Now that people are using high-speed always-on internet connections, more people will have static IPs, which will mean that it'll be easier to trace traffic back to a specific *person* rather than just an ISP.

Not true. The button only appears in forums you are a mod/admin for. I can see the IP button in Touches but not in Ray's Place.

Ah, I didn't realise that.  

The old board software that I used posted the IP address with the message, right after the user name, like:
