I "won" that Amazon contest where you enter your name for a chance to win either a PS3 or a Wii. By the time the contest was over, the "chances" of winning were 1 in 48 for the PS3 and 1 in 28 for the Wii. Anyone else hear of this contest? Well, I won. That is to say, I was give the special opportunity to spend 250 US dollars on a Nintendo Wii and have it shipped to my front door. Considering the price is the same, what I really won in this contest was the chance to not camp in front of a Best Buy, makeshift knife in hand, eagerly anticipating the moment when the helpless clerk opens the door so that I might shank him and sprint to the video game section desperately searching for the last available Wii.

Anyways, it's supposed to arrive between the 28th and the 3rd.

GODDAMN! I did not hear about that contest. Sad Well, good for you for winning. I've got some sour grapes over here for the rest of us.

I stood in line for 3 hours today at Circuit City off of no sleep, with no cigarettes (3 hours is a long time), and right after drinking 3 cups of coffee and 2 bottles of water (I had to urinate badly) but I got a wii.  OH. ME. GOD.  I am soooo addicted to Wii tennis right now it is not even funny.  There is absolutely no where in my area that has more controllers, so that kind of sucks, but overall this thing has already blown me away.  Also, I bought Madden, because I heard it was amazing.  Right now I wish I would have bought Monkey Ball.  Ah, whatever, I will get that after I get a vaporizer.

As I've probably mentioned elsewhere, I got a Wii to share with my brothers. Although we only have the one controller, we still get a load of mileage out of it each day due to the lovely taking-turns system present on the fuck*ng fantastic Wii Sports. No, it's not substantial and will perhaps not hold up well after months of playing, but if anything else can demonstrate a product in such an awesome way, I'm yet to see it.

Also got: Rayman for the little ones, haven't had a go yet but looks quirky if nothing else, and Red Steel, which didn't get great reviews but is still a lot of fun. It's a lot like one of those light gun games, off rails. John Woo style.

I've been mega impressed with how the console works, but like many others I reckon the real potential hasn't been fulfilled yet. Which only makes things even sweeter, really.

I'm taking a week off from Sports because tennis aggravated this old back injury I have from playing basketball.

I rented "Elebits" which is a little like Katamari, good rental, fun game, you trash the rooms of your home, but I won't buy it.

I got the Wii Monkeyball, and although I've only put in one day of play I firmly believe that it is not half as good as its GameCube predecessors.

I separated my shoulder pitching in high school, and in 4 and a half hours of mainly tennis it is getting pretty sore again.  I can play without hurting myself, but it is so much funner to act like I am actually playing tennis.

Also, bad deal on the Monkeyball, what is a cool game that I can get that can kind of take the place of a Monkeyball type thing?

Does that mean you are sick and need a humidifier-type vaporizer, or that you need to smoke using a vaporizer to enjoy the Wii? I'm confused.

As of this morning, the Amazon tracking system says my order has been scanned for departure from the shipping facility in Richmond, CA. That's about 50 miles from where I'm living right now. Yet it estimates the delivery date to be January 3rd. I really hope they're just being super-conservative with that, because part of me doubts that it takes a full week to ship a small box across the San Francisco Bay.

I have been meaning to buy a "smoking" vaporizer for a while.  I can just smoke and enjoy the wii, but, like, I bought the Wii instead of the vaporizer which I have been wanting for at least a year, but then, everytime I get money I spend it on other stuff.

I dunno, Sport, Elebit, and MB are the only games I've played so far, besides for DLing some retro games.  I dunno if there are any other multiplayer-party style games out yet.  There are a bunch of movie titles, mostly Disney, but those are movie games and probably not even worth renting.

But I would bank on Wario Ware and Wii Play, the sequel to Sports both being pretty strong, both release Jan 15th.  Madden's got to be good, no?  I would have rented it already, but none there.  And Mario Galaxy is Mario, I dunno when that comes out.

If you're not familiar with the Wario Ware series, it's basically the video game equivalent of doing a line of 50/50 ritalin and coke.

Oh, I am familiar (and LOVE!!!) WarioWare.  I guess Madden is okay.  I played another game this morning, but again I turned it off in the 3rd quarter (winning by 4, so it is not like it was a blowout) to play Tennis.

I really don't like football games, but my roommate who knows a ton more about video games said it was supposed to be amazing.  We are both at our parents house for xmas break, so maybe it is good and I just don't like playing it.  See, I am waiting for like Mario Tennis and Kart and Golf.

I haven't had a system since 64 and kind of forgot about renting.  I will be heading to the video store sometime today.  I'll have to check out Wii Play online.  What is a good wii/ general video game website?

I don't know about shipping... I ordered perfume from Paris, and the seller shipped it on 11/27, my birthday...and it took 4 weeks before it even LEFT the Paris area. Did you know that there is a place called Chilly Mazarin right by Charles de Gaulle Int'l Airport? Heh! Anyway... Here's hoping it will make it to AK in another four miserable weeks.

I was very proud of myself for not having purchased a Madden game these past two years. It's like the feeling of a crack cigarette smoker once they've succesfully quit their most foul and self-destructive of habits. Then, all of a sudden, I broke down. I still haven't purchased the game since 2003, mind you, but I did let my sister buy it for me when we were strolling though a Best Buy the day before my birthday. I got the 360 version. Somehow EA felt the process of marginally improving the graphics required removing every single cool feature from the game just short of franchise mode. I want to be able to design my own uniforms again, dammit! There's not greater feeling in the world than beating the Patriots with a team clad in day-glo pink and seafoam green.

So, uh, I am thinking of returning this already.  The controller is SOO inconsistent that it is fuck*ng ridiculous.  I am trying to train at tennis and it won't hit the god damn ball when I am swinging the fuck*ng controller.  The obcenities in this post don't even come close to how frustrating tennis training made me.  Towards the end I was just yelling as I could not come up with any more ways to string together profanity (well, without the female and racial slurs, but I ain't really down with that).  I don't know whether I can return it or whether I want to yet, but I am thinking about it now.  Sure, the actual Wii Sports games are alot of fun, but game play is different in the training modes for bowling and tennis. Like, it plays completely different, not a very good way to train, one would think.  Regardless if you swing the racket it should HIT THE fuck*ng BALL (or, at very least, SWING THE fuck*ng RACKET I AM MOVING MY WHOLE GOD DAMN ARM, INCLUDING MY RACKETAHAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HH). This worries me.

On the plus side, Baseball training (the home run derby one) provided me the oppurtunity to get out some rage.  I don't know if how hard/fast you move it is relative to how far you hit it, but before I was angry I hit 3 out of 10 and after I was angry I hit 8 out of 10.

Edit:  Melack, I went to your myspace.  I have a bass guitar and a bunch of songs I made in Sony Acid (and two in garageband) called naming shitty songs sucks.  We should start a band.

Edit 2:  Also, I had never bought a Madden game and the last football game I bought was NCAA 2003 for my roommates playstation.  I don't particularly like football, and I really don't like Football video games that are realistic, but this Wii Madden was supposed to be different.

Sorry about all the cursing, I just wanted to give you all a chance to experience what it would have been like to be around me when playing Wii Tennis training.
