I know in football you need like 10 teams because otherwise you've got one guy with Peyton Manning and Tomlinson and shit. You want teams to have strengths and weaknesses to make it more fun.

We need to have an even amount of teams to do a live draft, if that is a thing you want.

I'm guessing an auto draft would work best for this ragtag gang.

Aw man, now you got me imagining us as a multi-ethnic World War Two crew in a bad movie.

All such as the Italian and the Jewish fella and the Irish fella and the Generic White Farmboy and the dude with a Brooklyn accent called "Brooklyn" and such forth and so on.

"Yeah!" I might say, "An auto-draft will give us more time for shootin' Ratzis!"

And a cheer would go up and we'd enjoy Hershey bars and kiss pictures of our ladies back home.

Oh man, don't even get me started. The only video game I've been playing these past few weeks is Call of Duty 3 on Xbox Live. The game is fun, but it uses just a few lines of highly-repetitive dialogue during combat. Those being:

"Those kraut bastards got one of our guys" - when a Nazi kills an American
"This one's from Tennessee, Jerry!" - When an American tosses a grenade
"Hey Jerry, your sister says 'Hello!'" - random
"New York says 'Hi' you kraut bastard" - Also during a grenade toss, which is probably the one shouted by our hypothetical  "Brooklyn" character

Alright, I changed it to an auto draft sense it doesn't look like we are getting another player.

This basically means you can rank the players yourself, and then, when I hit ready, it will draft them within 72 hours.  You can also do nothing, and it will select the most poplar players.  I plan on starting the 72 hour draft window on sunday night.

I've got my pre-draft rankings all sorted out. For better or worse, my team ought to have quite a few Seattle Mariners. Considering this team has finished last in their division three years running, I'm leaning towards "worse".

I am basically certain that my team is awesome. But does anyone know how this shit is scored?

The thing ain't drafting because there are an odd number of teams and we're set up to compete head-to-head over the course of the season so Yahoo wants to make sure that someone always has an opponent.  Bye weeks are for football.

In a H2H league, you match up against another team.  Your cumulative stats are compared to your opponent's cume stats and you earn a record based on how many categories you win, lose or draw every week.  We're set up for the traditional 5x5 (R, HR, RBI, SB, AVG/W, SV, K, ERA, WHIP), so you can go 10-0-0, 0-10-0, or anywhere in between.

I'd like to get one more team involved before drafting rather than losing one, because too few teams takes some of the strategy out of it.  If we have to go with six teams, I'd suggest reducing the number of Bench positions (BN) to zero and stretching the waiver period to six days.  This forces more strategy as you add/drop guys based on weekly matchups rather than just hoarding them on your bench over the course of the season.  Eight teams would be better but I'd still advocate a shallow bench and long waiver period.
