Kerry looks on as student is tazed by police at UF. The student asks Kerry why he conceded the election so early, and is quickly jumped and taken to the ground by police, yells "I DIDNT DO ANYTHING WRONG, WHAT ARE YOU DOING? DONT TASER ME, BRO, OWWWW AHHHH" meanwhile Kerry tells everyone to calm down and then answers his question. The andrew meyer was then taken to county jail.
So yea, this country scares the  crap out of me.

what scares the crap out of me, truly, is...
last year, when a kid got tasered in a similar circumstance, and then was tasered again and again for not standing up... AFTER BEING TASERED, my roommate watched, laughed, and said "what an asshole, he deserved it."

This guy... he is a good guy. I loved that kid. But... WHAT. THE. FUCK.

Both of you are sooo right.

Also, inev, I don't know what you mean with your signature but Bob Dylan is right,  He knows more about you then you could ever hope to know about him.  Can't you see the picture he is drawing for you.

Seriously though, I agree completely with Dylan there.  Also, I found the part about pictures awesome because he wrote many a great song by taking speed, chain smoking marijuana and looking at collages.  You can really see this in Bob Dylan's 115th dream.  Also because words are what got him where he was and he was saying truth was a picture.  Anyhow, I have that film but haven't watched it in five years, thanks for bringing it up--probably watch it tonight.

This kind of shit pisses me off to no end. It seems every time I turn around there's some innocent civilian getting shot in the face with a goddamn M16 because an overweight SWAT team broke into the wrong house to serve a marijuana arrest. I'm all for law and order, but stop giving overweight fuck*ng hillbillies weapons and an excuse.

Maybe if all they were allowed to carry was billy clubs, at least they'd have to get up close and personal, and then strike repeatedly, thus ensuring they at least know that the person they're harming is a middle-aged father of three, and not a 250-pound drug dealer.

Also, no more high&tights on police officers. Where do you think you are, the 1s Marine Division? Grow a moustache instead, at least it's traditional.

Did I miss something?  Was he arrested for asking a question at a question and answer session?

When I read about this I thought it was just an over-reaction, something bad but nothing this crazy. The fact that they used the taser as a threat is the worst part for me, it's just nuts: there was four of them, they would have been able to hold him down and cuff him without resorting to that sort of violence.
Another vid with a bit better quality.

At the end of the day though I guess its just a couple of rent a cops who are on too much of a power trip and too simple minded to concieve that violence should not be your first resort when dealing with people.
Or another moral is: Do Not Question The System. We're the land of the free, got that? Questioning it sounds damn anti-american to me.

On the CBS radio news the version they're telling is that he kept yelling about his question, wouldn't stop talking when asked, wouldn't leave, and was warned before he was tazed. Of course they don't play any actual audio of the event or anything.

See this is technically true, and I can fully the support them removing him, the dude was being an annoying douche and it's well within their right to remove him. But uh... tasering him on the ground is a bit of  different matter.

Apparently instead of asking a question and sitting down, he asked a question and then continued making statements, then once his mic was cut began yelling, then when he was asked to sit down continued yelling, then when he was told to leave ran away from security and continued yelling.

Do I think he should have been tazed?  No.  Do I think he was a giant douche?  Yes.  Is he a martyr?  No.  Not in any way.

Yeah, maybe that could've been handled better by all parties.

What I take from it is another example of the willingness of people, institutions and our political entities showing their willingness to put the boot to the fuck*ng neck if you go a step out of line.

You have a right to be an asshole in your own forum, when the audience is there to see you being an asshole.

You have a right to be an asshole in your house.

Outside of that, if you interrupt a public forum, fail to comply with an order of law enforcement, violate the speech rights of someone by interrupting, taking the mike, or causing disturbance you are outside the law.

I find it interesting that the mode of protest now seems to have shifted significantly - whether out of laziness, frustration, or fragmentation I'm not sure. It seems to me that now, an awful lot of asshattery and/or criminal behavior (the riots around the economic summits and destruction of McDonalds franchises come to mind) has come to be more the norm versus demonstration, grassroots political organization, civil disobedience and the like.

The problem is, for those who aren't committed to a side, it doesn't really draw people to your side, and the people it does draw could be assholes too.

Although it's not a right/left problem, it appears that this happens more on the left than the right, though.
