"Artists need to make money to eat and to continue to make art. Artists used to rely on middlemen to collect their money on their behalf, thereby rendering themselves innocent of cash-handling in the public eye. Artists will now be coming straight to you (yes YOU, you who want their music, their films, their books) for their paychecks. Please welcome them. Please help them. After watching that, I think I just figured it out, Sonic Youth are the indy rock Grateful Dead.

I didn't watch cause I am seeing Sonic Youth Monday!

I could have seen Pavement in September, but they were playing at this awful venue like 30 minutes away.  The 1st Bank Center.  If you are thinking of counting, count me out on that one.

Sonic Youth is finished.  They are setting up Pavement's equipment right now.

Seeing Sonic Youth on Tuesday! Saw Pavement in September, and you should have.

After watching that, I think I just figured it out, Sonic Youth are the indy rock Grateful Dead.

I saw them in July but I wasn't close at all, and didn't realize how old Kim Gordon looks.

Maaaan, after seeing them on Colbert I don't know.  That was pretty bad and it was one of my favorite songs.

Pavement, I'm guessing. They were on recently and played Gold Soundz. I really liked the show I went to, but granted it was at what is possibly my favorite venue.

Yeah, Pavement.

Also, I need an excuse to go to Red Rocks, would have seen them in a second there.

Where my cousin lives in the Denver burbs, you can basically walk to Red Rocks.

Didn't see a show there but drove past it when some jam band "The Discobiscuits" were playing and... so many would-be nouveau hippies.

I felt so old, even though a significant minority of the faux hippies were at least a bit older than I am.

Pavement played McMenamins Edgefield recently. I didn't go - I was out of town. I did see Al Green and Crowded House there, though, and they were both fantastic shows.

I'm trying to find some chiptunes I like for study music. Mainly I've been enjoying the chilled out stuff like failotron which I originally heard on PATV.

Yeah, that's how I read it at first too.

"They are so terrible, I have now internally demoted them to another band's roadies."

I am... glad someone else made this mistake so I can admit to it.

That does make a pretty awesome metaphor, and to some fans during the 90s may not have been too far off the mark.
