so i was surfing and hit this link:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/viamoi/4460600516/

sometimes flickr's annotations are fun, often they're dull, but this one surprised me. it's a link to a youtube video that seems on watching to be completely overrated. did i miss something? like, if it is spam, ...why are they linking a boring youtube video?

if it isn't spam, then, well, i guess i've just been on the internet too long.

It's not spam, but sorta.  The video may or may not have some meaning to the person that left it.  It seems to have no connection whatsoever to what they are commenting on, but the note is from a non native English speaker using English as their primary language on Flickr leaving a note on a photo of another non native English speaker doing the same thing.  So who knows what got lost in translation.  They may have been responding to a comment on one of their photos and for whatever reason decided to comment back on that photo.

I checked out the photostream of the person that left the note.  I've seen their type before.  They post photos infrequently in measured doses.  Each one is their latest masterpiece.  In between times they leave tons of comments all over flickr to attract attention to their small gallery of photos.  In this way they get lots of comments and faves on their pictures.

Most of their comments are very generic.  "Great Photo," "Nice Composition," "Beautiful," etc...

So the link to the video in and of itself isn't spam necessarily, but that commenters style is spammy.
