Ray knows better than T or Philippe what is in Philippe's best interest.

Have the other cast members ever asked Ray for money?

I think they understand that, in most situations, accepting money from Ray would mean that you can never tell him to shut the fuck up ever again.

In Ray's mind, the money would be a payment toward that end.

It's customary to win it from him via poker or pool.  Or the way this storyline began they basically stole $600 from him.

Come to think, that $600 would have been enough to send the little shaver home to see his mother.  They could have saved a few steps there.

the lesson of that movie is that tom cruise is a dick for constantly saying "STOP ACTING LIKE THIS, STOP ACTING LIKE THIS."

Really?  I didn't see that movie.  I saw the version where Tom Cruise was frustrated by a brother he never knew with a disease he didn't understand who he felt had fucked him out of his inheritance.  Who nevertheless took said brother under his wing and tried to forge a relationship with him; learning to accept him for who he was as his understanding of his condition grew.

yeah, but at the beginning he is being a dick, and keeps yelling at him, and then he learns that that is not the way to do things. I almost stopped watching the movie because Cruise's character made me so uncomfortable with all the yelling/dick-ery... which means I am like my mom, who has to take breaks while reading the Harry Potter books because it makes her really upset when the teachers are mean to Harry. She also won't watch Mad Men because it makes her mad that all the men are so sexist.

also, the reason he takes him under his wing, initially, is to get the inheritance.
