Amazon link.
Wiki link.
Metacritic link with trailers.

Anybody see this coming on the horizon? L.A. in the 40s, done by Rockstar . . . it's pretty much my dream video game. If it's as open world as their other stuff, I'm probably going to end up getting a divorce out of it. However, it's been in the works since at least 2004, so I've got a bit of a development hell vibe going on.

I remember hearing about this a few years ago and hearing nothing more so I assumed it was vapourware. Now it's back and looks basically finished I am so very excited.

Review of the game by someone concerned only with the architecture of '47 Los Angeles. So nothing on the gameplay, really. But lots of links to cool photos.

I think all reviews should be like that.

You can stream the remixed version of some of the soundtrack here. Ella, Louis Jordan, Dinah Washington, Gene Krupa and Lady Day.

L.A. Noire first video game at Tribeca film festival.

My God! It's full of stars!

It's actually very beautiful. I think it might take me a bit to get used to the controls. They did something weird between GTA3 and GTA4, and this has the newer control scheme. Still, very, very cool so far.

They need to find some coots who were driving in 1947 and see whether they like the game experience of driving.  Bonus if they lived in LA at the time.

Oh, gracious. I heard Things about this game, enough to pique my interest, and I am seriously considering it. I came here to see if anyone had played it...but that trailer...

...I think I need to go change my panties now. Holy crapsticks.

Lileks blathered a bit about it today in a favourable fashion.

Having played the GTAs, it was interesting to me that the cars in this game handle, realistically, I think, like Sherman tanks.

I haven't played the game but I can confirm from experience that cars and trucks from the '30's and '40's do indeed handle like what you might imagine a tank would.

I'll save my detailed commentary on suspension, brake, steering systems and frame design out of a sense of...mercy, I guess.

The original Mafia game had cars which handled awfully. Kind of added to the charm though. You had to put some THOUGHT into a getaway. Examine the angles etc.
