Geraldine Ferraro is dead.
Her mother was adamant that she get a full education, despite an uncle in the family saying "Why bother? She's pretty. She's a girl. She'll get married."
I'm guessing some of you will be more in tune with her than Liz Taylor? I don't know. She was a big deal to me, perhaps partly because the two people who provided pretty much all of my parenting were both female. She got a little scrambled towards the end, as far as I can tell, but she broke some pretty significant barriers.
