Since there's not going to be a season, this is all I've got.

The Chargers addressed need first by getting DT Corey Liuget from Illinois. They grabbed two more guys for the secondary, since they like to draft a few of them every year. Another WR named Vincent to replace the one who doesn't want to work for us anymore.

BSU sent Titus Young to Detroit and Austin Pettis to St. Louis. Detroit is looking like they did pretty well this year - that guy Fairley is basically insane, and having him together with Suh . . . well, if they do play this year, Cutler is going to have a couple unpleasant games.

Also of interest (to me) is the fact that Ryan Mallett dropped quite a ways. Rough way to learn that in pro football you basically have to answer the questions from the press whether you like them or not. No comment doesn't work anymore.

Also meant to mention that Mallett went to New England, which means he'll sit behind Brady for a few years and will probably also mean that they will be perennial contenders for another deacde and a half.

That and it looks like everyone that the Chargers drafted will be getting work on special teams. Which couldn't hurt any.

This was an interesting take from something that happened during the draft coverage.

My first thought was "Lucky dude got emotional and teared up instead of backhanding the reporter" but then I thought about it and realized it was his dad who fed the material over to the media. In my case, that would make for a very interesting visitation day. There's no reason that couldn't have been done privately without turning it into a 'thing'. It feels exploitive on a couple of levels.

Pain and suffering are inevitable in life; misery is optional. Our hells are custom made for us by our own mind.

If we let it get away with that kind of gangety shit.

Yeah, I just saw that on ESPN during my workout. Of course, his dad played, too, so he probably knows about making a splash and the importance of the media - so he's clearly getting mileage where he can.

Just looked back at "your team in draft history" on ESPN. Jesus, that's depressing.

2010: Ryan Mathews, RB - too early to say, but nothing much yet.
2009: Larry English, DE - see above (not a starter)
2008: Antoine Cason, CB - starter, 8 ints in 3 years
2007: Craig Davis, WR - bust, 4th string
2006: Antonio Cromartie, CB - starter . . . for the Jets
2005: Shawne Merriman, LB - hurt, on Bills roster for league minimum probably
2004: Eli Manning, QB - fuck him, and fuck everybody else as well
2003: Sammy Davis, DB - should have drafted Dino here . . . Sammy's out of football
2002: Quentin Jammer, CB - starter opposite Cason
2001: LT - in the hall, hopefully wearing the lightning bolt.

After that, there's one (1) first-rounder in eight years, and you know who that was. The dude we picked in the first round in '93, Darrien "Flash" Gordon, won two Super Bowls . . . with Denver.
