Well, I just blew my weeks earnings on having Cowboy Bebop (both the series and movie on DVD) shipped across from the States!
It's too good to not have, and I don't really want to watch the other half in fairly crappy divx quality. And this way, I'll get to start from scratch in great quality!
btw, if for some utterly crazy bizarre reason, you haven't heard of or seen it - follow the link in my sig to find a little out about it, then watch it! Even people who don't like anime end up saying how great it is.
And if you have seen it but not Trigun - give it a try, it's not as good, but it's well worth it! Now, to start saving up for Vash's Stampede Duster!

I have a friend watching for the first time and she's stumped me.
The movie, chronologically, is episode 23.5, so should you watch it between 23 and 24 or save it for the very end, since it was made last?
I vote watch the movie last, to take some edge off the series.
Also, they're selling stuffed Ein's and Suncoast now. I almost bought one, but I'm trying to stay strong.

Ah I say watch the movie after 23. Cos otherwise you see the ending of te entire thing before the movie. But then I'm such a geek that it just has to be done right you know!
But then, if they do end up making some more, which there's mild and spurious talk of, where the hell they gonna fit them in!?
I wanted a Mushroom Samba Tee someone made in the style of Ralph Steadman (see my avatar) who did the Fear and Loathing artwork, but it's disappeared now. Damn you Cafe Press!

You think you've got problems? At least Cowby Bebop ends at 26 episodes and a movie. I'm up to my fifth box of Urusei Yatsura. That's only like half of the series and doesn't even include the movies.

I just think it's awesome that the box set from Bandai left an extra slot open so that when Sony/Columbia release
Knockin' On Heaven's Door
there was room for it too. And that it came with OST 1 rocks.
Rocks
.
I was supposed to get the soundtrack box set for X-mas, but we were too slow, and somebody ordered the last one less than an hour before us.

Yea, I'm pissed that I didn't get the chance to get the boxed set. They're doing a 3 disc one now for like $30, but apparently it's horrifically encoded and has really nasty pixelation all over the place, so I just got the 6 discs in one order instead. unfortunately, if I'd been ok with the 3 disc one, I would have ordered it from this other place that is doing like, that, the movie, 4 or 5 soundtrack discs and something else, all for the same price I paid for the series and movie. But I'm too geeky for bad quality!
I'll have to look at Urusei wotsit, though maybe it's better I don't, and thus aren't tempted to start getting it...

Yeah stay away from the 3-disc one: beyond quality issues it's also probably a pirate (dead giveaways: "Plays in all regions!" "English and
Mandarin
subtitles!" "Ships from our warehouse in Hong Kong!"). Usually doesn't have a dub track either, and CB's is actually pretty good (not to start up the whole sub/dub controversy...)
Urusei Yatsura
is about as far from Cowboy Bebop as one can get but it was the second anime series that I fell in love/obsession with, so I like to evangelize a bit.

CB also had some kind of Perfect Sessions (or something like that) which was like the anime equivilant of SuperBit but I've never seen those.
Ohhh, Urusei Yatsura. At first I thought you were talking about
Urotsukidoji
(kind of work safe)

There was a six episode "best sessions" disc IIRC, but basically there's no way someone is legitimately selling new copies of the complete Cowboy Bebop for thirty bucks. The ones I saw for that price on Amazon marketplace had some of the tells I mentioned above, though a lot of them mentioned an English dub track, so I guess they ripped the US release instead of the Japanese one. All of them claimed to be all region ("works in any DVD player").
I have been on a geek bender today.

Oh lordy, Urotsukidoji. My first (and pretty much last) hentai title.

Yea the best sessions, only benefit is the 5.1 that they did properly on the 3 that Watanabe chose for it. You can get the limited 7 disc perfect sessions boxed set - if you're willing to spend about $300+ on it, but come on!!!
Urotsikidoje just plain terrified me! Never going near that again!
And yea, I heard about Urusei before, not quite my thing. I tend to go for the more, i don't know, artistic ones. As far from cartoon as you can get you know. Eva, I quite got into, but there were a good few bits that annoyed the hell out of me. All of the glib 'aren't we happy' stuff that I can do without in anime.

In that case (and you've probably already heard of this) make I recommend
Serial Experiments Lain

Ooooh, that looks very promising... Lain that is. Amazon was recommending it to me before but I hadn't checked it out yet.
From the synopsis, you might like
Broken Saints
.
It's a flash anime/manga. Using animated aspects but not animating the characters except for movement. The plot is superb, and some of the artwork and direction is stunning. And the music is excellent too. Well worth checking out, though it is kinda rather a specialised thing.
I ended up spending two days downloading them all over my modem so I can watch them and keep them properly.

Oh yes, I saw a little bit of that on some Canadian arts show or something (one of the benefits of living close to the US/Canada border). Looked interesting, but I have the same modem issue that you have without possessing the patience that goes with dling big flash animations.

I bought Urotsukidoji on the back of your typical love of Akira, Fist of the North Star, Ninja Scroll etc - and it is just plain WRONG. One thing we don't have much of in the UK is serialised Anime, maybe I'll check the previously discussed.

Yea, see all the ones you bought it because of rule!
If you're failing to find UK serialised anime, best bet is to look at CNX (cartoon network channel) who have shown Cowboy Bebop and some others. They also show good hong kong martial arts movies, like the Jet Li greats (Once Upon a Time in China et al).
If you are still having problems, I can be very generous and send you a copy of the Trigun series - just PM me if you're interested.
As I said, I've given up and am waiting for Bebop to arrive on DVD.
There are loads of serialised ones on the likes of KazaaLite, and while you can feel bad abou downloading them, there's no where else to get them!
