Did any of you party people ever figure out what this was for? I remember a bunch of us signed up for it, then waited to see what would come of it. Apparently the answer is "nothing".

it's probably best used as realtime collaboration with a documentation archive, by teams of people working together on specific, limited projects.
what killed wave was the combination of the release method (slow, invite-only) plus performance (browsers can't handle that much scripting yet, at least in one of several open tabs).
most of the usable tech from wave was probably cannibalized for google+ though so there you go

Working on something in google wave has always felt like the virtual equivalent of trying to write a report where a dozen people are staring over your shoulder and can hijack your work at any given moment.
