Title: I'm the new camera whore 'round here!
Post by: slink on June 16, 2004, 04:12:22 pm
Well.
Paul isn't here, and I have a camera at my disposal. And I know there are guitarrists here. Plus, hell, I'm just stoked.

So anyway. This isn't the guitar I wanted (the Maton MS520 (http://www.guitar.com.au/guitars/electric/maton/ms520_files/MS520.jpg), which I will own some day soon) but it is the one I found in town that I just enjoyed playing most. That's a slight lie, there was a really knocked about 70's Les Paul that played like gold. It was like my fingers were just inhabited by Jimi or something. But it was in real bad condition and didn't sound too good. I'm not willing to put too much money into a repair job as I need to continue buying equipment.

Anyway, Limited Edition Epiphone Les Paul Gothic. Only got about two months of use by the previous owner, who had originally wanted a different guitar and managed to get one after buying the Epiphone.

Sounds better than it looks. Got some custom (11-48) strings on it and it just sounds so rich and tight. The action is very clean, although the neck is slightly bigger than I am used to so is taking a little working out. Plus I can get further up the neck on the LP than on a Strat which is nice.

Excuse the nasty sofa cushions. They are usually blanket covered.

a very 80's looking thang' you have there.  I hope you put on cure-style make up when you play it.

It is quite 80's. Less eighties than the flying V they had in. I love the way they sound but I could not bring myself to hold one. The rest just looked like guitars. And a few of them were orange.
Well, if it weren't for having cut my hair I could do a great, although very skinny Bob Smith. My face tend to look like that anyway - anaemia, stoner, cfs, freakishly big pupils anyway...
People just assume I'm a goth before they get to know me, it's depressing. Ah crap!

Oh, does it fill you with melancholy?  Do you want to slink into your bedroom to play on your black guitar?  Do you mutter under your breath how your parents just don't get it?  That it's not a fashion statement, it's a life style? Do you write bad poetry that no one gets, then exclaim "it's personal!"?  Is that how it's gonna' be?

I don't know things about stuff, but that's definitely one radcore-looking guitar.  And props for not falling into the flying-v trap that almost all of the metal kids at my school succumbed to.
