From a Perkins Restaraunt Guest Experience Survey card for a $25000 drawing:
"Maximum of 1 entry per card. Entry limit: 5 surveys per month. Canadian residents must correctly answer a skill-testing question."
what?

I was about to post the same thing. So they ask them, what is 2 + 2 or whatever, and then all correct entries go into the drawing.
What's the point of a rule like that? Is is supposed to make it MORE FAIR? I don't get it.

"Free entry" give-aways have long been used as come-along scams, hence the 'test of skill' requirements to protect the public.
come-along scam?

"You've won a free gift! To collect it, all you have to do is sit through our pressure packed three hour sales presentation on our real sales object!"
ah. thankyou for the explanation.

We have a similar thing here in the Southern Hemisphere.
In South Australia the law states that you do not have to purchase items to be included in a draw/competition. So competitions that require bar codes to be sent in or an item to be opened etc will often have a special section for South Australian's saying that they have to answer a question or draw a facsimile of a label etc. Then they will be included in the draw.
I have always thought that when ever they get these SA entries they must just ditch them.

Drawing a facsimile of the label is totally a way cooler mini-challenge though.
