i am of course loving the G.O.F. (and i believe roast beef will win, but that's neither here nor there), but i'd like to see a break in the plot maybe this week to see what other characters like molly and teodor think about ray and beef being in the fight.
i personally think molly must be either really mad or worried sick.

Philippe! Oh, I hope Philippe knows nothing.
-
Now that you mention it I hope Philippe is sitting on top of the gate by the skull with a horrified look on his face. JUST HORRIFIED!
(Then maybe later they find his baby bird all grown up and eat it.)
-
Philippe is a bad-ass. I wouldn't be surprised if he was IN the fight, kicking ass, taking names, trying to spell them (because he is five).
-
all I AM HAPPY TO BE YOUR GREAT OUTDOOR FIGHT CHAMPION
-
I really really hope Nice Pete is involved in the G.O.F. I'm just hoping he meets Ray, and talks to him ever so pleasantly about how many dudes he has Taken. Cue new strategy for defeating Nice Pete, hopefully including the sacrifice of Ray's gang. It would tie things up nicely.
-
Actually, it's kinda unthinkable in this Day and Age that the GOF isn't televised. I mean, Onstad's set the whole thing up as a throwback (viz.: moustaches), but you can't avoid tv, can you?
The fellas have got to be viewing this, no?
-
Oh, Philippe! I think he would be awfully unhappy that people were hurting each other!
-
Hey, you know what I miss? No one's updated their blog in ages. That's where we should be reading Molly's, etc., take on this.
-
If Onstad won't actually get Pat into the Fight, we should at least be reading Pat's blog posts about this, all commenting on how the turkey-and-brandy Fight culture would be vastly improved with some Soy Bomb Brand I Can't Believe It's Not Tofurkey and Carmelita's Brand-Eez Bee Paste Brew best-stitutes.
(Bets that Sound and Motion was a veglegon?)
-
I had completely forgotten about Molly. I could see Molly being worried/interested. Plus Ray's mom, not that she has a blog.
I sort of wanted Lyle to be involved in the fight, or at least to have fought in the past. Also it would be neat if Little Nephew would find out about Ray's heritage and be floored by it. However, the GOF doesn't seem like Nice Pete's style at all - not something he'd be involved in, I mean.
I doubt the GOF is televised since it's probably illegal. Does the Underground even have its own alive animal stations?

Presumably if Jaime were on a regular station one of these articles (http://www.achewood.com/index.php?date=09292005) would mention his being a cat.

That is OUTSTANDING CortJstr-ing, there, CortJstr. I mean, there's the reason we verbed you in the first place. Enjoy your Lilliputian container of Piper Nigrum physicians.

You mean cats don't do science shows on YOUR tv cort? Man, you must have gotten the crappy cable package.
(My personal favorite is MeowMeow's Zany Lab)

There was the rat on Beakman's World but I'm pretty sure it was just a guy in a suit.

::gasp::
No, you are totally right. All I could remember was the pretend, cardboard-box TV back in the olden days. My memory has been owned. ::bows::
But still, I don't think the GOF would be televised.

It is being blogged, though. In Gasps and Giggles.

Ask and ye shall receive (http://www.achewood.com/index.php?date=02212006), apparently.
-
I find this to be a real weird coincidence.
-
i was totally shocked to see the blog today, and none other than Teodor! he doesn't know beef is in the fight, so i wonder if molly does? maybe she'll just come home from work and......
-
i think onstand's been checking in!
but only in the same way that i think santa claus really knows what i want for christmas...

It must be televised, or at least broadcast on the radio, because Envelope Martinez was scheduled to do color commentary on the GOF until he "lost a fight (http://www.achewood.com/index.php?date=02082006)" and "had part of his face eaten."

But... maybe the color commentary is for the competitors. ...via a PA system, or something. ...
I've got nothing *runs*

i think it's not that it's televised, but that people attend the fight and watch. after all, if you recall, ray's mom did go with rodney to the fight. and, when ray proves to teodor that his dad was rodney, part of what he bought on ebay was a spectator ticket.
it's probably commentary for the audience outside of the fence.
oh man, what i wouldn't give to see some of the audience. maybe some of our people are there. mr bear? molly? chucklebot? the possibilities are Endless.

I don't know. The Fight seems to me like the kind of event where there are no spectators. Everyone who is there must participate. And we've seen no indication of spectators (aside from the spectator ticket that Ray bought, but who's to say that today's Fight still allows spectators?) -- the Fight seems to be fairly well-known, so presumably if there were spectators, there would be a lot of them, all massed outside the fence. But we haven't seen anyone outside the fence, aside from the partici##### as they were waiting for the gate to open.
I think it would be out of character for Mr. Bear to take an interest in the Fight. Then again, before today's strip I would also have said that I think it'd be out of character for Ray to cold rip a dude's face off, so who knows. I'm not really familiar enough with Chucklebot's character to form an opinion about whether he'd be interested, but I can't imagine he would be, based on what I've seen. He seems to associate only with the other *****s (of course, having said this, I'm sure someone will produce a link to a strip proving me wrong now), and the Fight seems to be a cat-only affair.
(hi yes I joined because of this arc too)

I don't think Beef would have told Molly. Too much of an impulse thing.

At most, it might have been that Molly was like, "Beef? Where are you going?" and Beef would have been like silent but infinitely meaningful turn of the head. Man. As much as cold ripping a dude's face off is a major milestone in the annals of Achewood, the final panel of http://www.achewood.com/index.php?date=02062006 is still the defining moment of the entire strip for me now.
