I guess that there's no New Year's Resolution thread yet. I'm on call and just hanging out at home. Everyone else is probably out partying. Whoo! I'll be there when someone needs an ambulance.
My New Years Resolutions:
- Tell my family members how much I love them. Call them more often.
- Save enough to put x amount into a CD at the bank.
- Buy my two must-have perfumes, Frederic Malle's Musc Ravageur and L'Artisan Parfumeur's Timbuktu.
- Work out at least 5 times per week and include strength training. I usually just do cardio but strength training is very important.
- Run a 9-minute mile. I hate running but it will make me a better firefighter.
- Grow my hair as long as possible. It is currently a little past the shoulders. It grows fast so I could get as much as 6" of growth in '07. I also really want to get the T3 Evolution hair dryer...(EDIT: I knuckled under and bought this on eBay earlier tonight).
- Buy the study books for the AICP exams, which is going to be like $500. :(
- Register to take the AICP exam in '08.
- Take the exams to become an EMT-III, which is one step below a paramedic. IIIs can do advanced cardiac life support.
How about the rest of y'all? It feels a little weird to come up with a list. However, I looked up the lyrics to Auld Lang Syne (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auld_Lang_Syne) online so that I can sing it loud and proud tomorrow night. I even found a great MP3 that Wikipedia linked to: an MP3 of "Auld Lang Syne" as sung by Kenneth McKellar (http://www.maybole.org/community/celebrations/christmas/greetings/AuldLangSyne2.mp3).
Robert Burns’ verse:
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind ?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne ?
CHORUS:
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And surely ye’ll be your pint-stowp !
And surely I’ll be mine !
And we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
CHORUS
We twa hae run about the braes,
and pou’d the gowans fine ;
But we’ve wander’d mony a weary fit,
sin’ auld lang syne.
CHORUS
We twa hae paidl’d in the burn,
frae morning sun till dine ;
But seas between us braid hae roar’d
sin’ auld lang syne.
CHORUS
And there’s a hand, my trusty fiere !
And gies a hand o’ thine !
And we’ll tak a right gude-willie-waught,
for auld lang syne.
CHORUS

Just reading that list, I need to go lie down and take a nap.

Yeah, I don't do these because... I... never follow through on them and...
...looking back on them only depresses me. Yeah.
I'll stop typing a-now.
-
I just keep track of movies I watch and what I eat. For work, I have even more tasks and lists to keep track of.
I think I'll keep the rest of my private time for relaxing. No more lists of things I should be doing but can't due to physical collapse.
-
More diligence with the exercising, less diligence with the liquor.
I got it backwards last year.
-
I think that was back in September.
-
yeah, my plan is to keep up with schoolwork better, try to give a shit, etc. also, start a band.

1. Quit Smoking (again) (Currently at 43 hours)
2. Finish the year with 25 Masterpoints (http://www.acbl.org/about/membersByMPs.php).
3. End year debt free. (For once and finally, I think this is doable this year.)
4. At least exercise some.

How many do you have now?

How many do you have now?
After this weekend's tourney, I think I'm sitting at around 6, all of which were earned in '06. I think I can do better this year.

Best of luck with giving up on this most addictive of vices, Gimpson.

4. At least exercise some.
I like this. It is eminently reasonable.

Yeah, duplicate bridge can be a bear to quit.

Speaking of New Years Resolutions, I'm back on the hacker's diet again as mentioned elsewhere. Kellichou sent me an interesting link of a photoessay showing caloric density of food:
http://www.wisegeek.com/what-does-200-calories-look-like.htm
Combined with NutritionData's (http://www.nutritiondata.com/) nifty little food ratings, I think that this is a pretty nifty way to remind myself about nutritional value. Some of the pictures are skewed (like the 200 kcal worth of Coca-Cola), but the page is still interesting nonetheless.
