Title: Jam bands
Post by: fishman35 on February 21, 2007, 04:30:12 am
I just came to say how much I hate "jam" bands like Widespread Panic and Phish. You have to be high to listen to 20 minutes of the same god$amn 4 bars. Now before you hippies jump up to say "they are awesome musicians", don't waste your breath. I know they can play, but if I want to listen to great musicians I will listen to Rush, Kings X, or Primus. At least every one of their songs aren't the same freaking 3 chords for 15 minutes. Sheese! And there is something else you should know. I play 4 instruments, sing, write, and you may have even seen me in music videos. (Session player and hired gun after doing the club thing). Songs should kick your ass and then be done, not ride a so-so groove all afternoon.  ???

Go ahead and spew. The so-called sell out bands like Nickelback, Velvet Revolver, and Filter will just keep making hit records while jam bands have their day at Bonaroo.  ;D

you lost me at "Rush"
and again at "same 3 chords."

I hate jam bands, but that is kind of a silly reason. Would you hate a jazz improvisation with 3 chords? I'm sure such a thing exists.

Yeah, Rush really threw me too.

I mean... there's being ironical about "liking" something that's completely terrible and then there's...

Rush. I mean, RUSH.

If you can successfully pull off ironically liking Rush, you're like... an Eagle Scout hipster. You can quit being a hipster right there, you've maxed out your score, no more point in it. You just found a Honus Wagner tobacco card rootin' through trash, time to retire from dumpster diving and find a new hobby.

You have 255 rupees, Link, that's all you get to hold. Marginal utility and all that.

I'm amazed that this post is arguing against repetitive music and advocating Nickelback instead.

I mean, I'm sorry, is there a Nickelback song in existence that doesn't sound like every Nickelback song that has ever been or will be?

Don't feed the trolls.  Finally I get to put the smackdown in my forum.
