It is the end of an era. It is the end of the boredom killing collection of links at tv-links.co.uk.Evidently UK authorities raided the location of the servers and arrested the owner and several mods of the site. I dont know what british law theyd be charged with. All they did was link to videos on other networks, never hosting the videos themselves. Kind of like an index page of internet video.

Lame, used to use that alot.
-
I haven't tried any of these yet, but I just found this list of replacements (http://tvteddy.blogspot.com/2007/10/tv-links-replacements.html) on Digg.
-
Last time I missed The Office I used http://tvunderground.org.ru/ and it worked fine. But I guess that's because I use eMule instead of BT. I just never made the switch.

tvlinks going down may singlehandedly raise the GPAs of my friends by a significant amount.

I've never missed an episode of The Office, but considering how this new season has started out, I might have to change that.
-
..really? I'm really enjoying it. I watched every single back-episode over the month or so leading up to the new season, and I've seen all the new ones and enjoyed them.
-
"The Office" is rapidly becoming the next Simpsons... in that, even when the new ones are really quite good, the bar was set so fuck*ng high by its best episodes that you can sometimes be a little let down by it being simply the best show on network television that week instead one of the fifty funniest television episodes you've ever seen.
We get spoiled by utter greatness, we the impatient viewing masses.
-
it kind of bugs me that Pam got prettier once she started dating Jim. I cannot really articulate why, though.

LFM, that post was apt. Aaaaapt!
-
LFM pretty much hit the nail on the head, as he so often does.
I guess what I don't like about the new season is the fact that so much of what the show was building towards early on has actually come to pass. We'd always hear about Dwight's wacky house and family, but actually seeing these things was a little too jarring.
The same goes for Pam and Jim. Their tension is what made so much of the show funny, but now those awkward moments have been replaced by cutesy romantic smiles and whatnot. It's just not fun anymore now that they're a legitimate couple, you know?
And as for Michael... I don't know. I love Steve Carrell, but I'm just not sure how much I still enjoy Michael Scott after three seasons.
-
I have never watched the US Office out of principle, but maybe it is time I change that.
-
Interestingly enough, I really don't find Pam that attractive, never really did.
Too frumpy and too mousy. Jim's other girlfriend, man, though.
Man. Man oh man.
I appreciate the compliments, by the by. I'm a complete idiot about a lot of things but I like to think that the things that I do know, I have down pretty well. Television, baseball, things like that. Trivia like that.
-
oh man.
we have a rule in our suite that...
you aren't allowed to diss Pam, or in any way suggest that she is anything but the perfect woman.
Although the other day I realized that personality-wise, she is basically the same as this girl I dated a while ago. That has made me look at her in a different light.
-

I think the US version, at its peak, was actually better than the UK version. That's saying a lot, because I loved the UK series.
But maaaaaaaan has the US version also given us a lot of filler. I guess that's the benefit of having a much more protracted series. You're given so many chances to swing for the fences that you're gonna knock a few out there eventually. But you're also going to strike out a lot..... like this season.
-
I think the only reason BJ Novak's character appears is because he is a producer of the show, and all the writers are too afraid to tell him how much he, and his character, suck. He's just a complete comedy black-hole.
The hour episodes are a bad idea. Viewers can only take some many facial-takes and awkward pauses and after a half-hour they move from funny to uncomfortable.
-
Well fuck, Oink is gone now too. It is way more important.
-
oink is down.
goddamn. goddamn this shit.
"A criminal investigation continues into the identities and activities of the site's users"
um. um. um.
-
"A criminal investigation continues into the identities and activities of the site's users"
um. um. um.
yeah, um, I was hoping you might know something about that. So far it is just English and Dutch investigators, but you know, its a global world, or some bullshit. I have always just lived by the "they can't get us all" model. So, hopefully, they can't get us all (me).
-
That's why when they do catch those few people, they rape the ever-loving shit out of them (see: RIAA lawsuits).
-
It took them 2 months to catch the guy who carjacked me and thats only because he used a gun to rob a gas station on camera. The odds of catching and prosecuting hundreds of thousands of global internet users for watching Futurama reruns is pretty minimal.
Oh, I know, but that is why this part That's why when they do catch those few people, they rape the ever-loving shit out of them (see: RIAA lawsuits).
makes it so scary.
-
Now that The Office is running in syndication on TBS, I got to see one of the older episodes and it just confirmed my suspicion that this show has gone downhill in a hurry. It was the episode where Jim throws a party and invites everyone but Michael. Watching him try to squeeze his way into the party was so delightfully awkward in a way that the new episodes just haven't been able to capture.
-
it kind of bugs me that Pam got prettier once she started dating Jim. I cannot really articulate why, though.
I love Pam, though I think she's pretty passive-agressive in a major way. I think it makes sense that she got prettier. You're around a new boyfriend all the time, you're going to try to impress him. Roy, she had that shit in the bag and she knew it. Jim's more tenuous.

A) On Ryan - I think that they're developing the character so that he'll be a fairly incisive satire of the condescending wunderkind yuppie. Previously, he was kind of a straightman amid chaos, but now he's becoming a slightly sexier Michael.
Also, Kelly is HILARIOUS in reaction to Ryan.
B) Complete agreement about the hour episodes. They are RAD once in a while, but it doesn't sustain itself.
I think the show's still really funny.
-
I'm still holding out hope for when they return to the 30-minute format. That should be soon, right? I believe the hour episodes are supposed to run for the first month of the season.
As much as I've been disappointed with the latest episodes, there have been those rare, undeniable moments of hilarity in each episode. Hopefully returning to the shorter format will allow them to refine the funny and ditch the filler. Pam and Jim smiling at each other lovingly should be first against the wall.
-
Also, this (http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3163766) really doesn't fuck*ng help matters.
-
It seemed to me that the "hour-long" episodes have a pretty clear break in the middle, so they can be shown as regular half-hour episodes when re-runs or syndication come around. So just TiVo the hour-long episode and watch it one-half at a time.
-
The new wrinkle on Ryan is a lot funnier when you live in Los Angeles and, like, every other person is that guy.
Remember, they film that thing in an industrial park just north of the Van Nuys Airport.
The new take on Ryan is hilarious to them because you cannot swing the corpse of Sprinkles in this town without hitting that guy.

see, tonight's episode was not satisfying at all. too short. not enough cute jim + pam ness.

At the risk of being labeled a misogynist: woman.
-
i mean, yeah.
due to events in my life, I want them to date and love each other and be happy forever?
partially because she reminds me of my ex who I shouldn't have broken up with, partially because she's so cute and nice, partially because I like to think of myself as being like jim... so many reasons.
-
But... Karen is like nine times as hot as Pam.

But... Karen is like nine times as hot as Pam.
Quoted for all fuckin' KINDS of truth.
-
dude, fuck you. FUCK YOU.
-
I'm not saying Pam is unattractive, because she isn't. She's at least mildly attractive, but Karen? Sorry, dude. Way hotter. Maybe they'll bring her back so that Toby may finally find love.
-
What about Jan? For me fake boobs are a deal-breaker. The list of women who would be hot if they'd kept their real boobs is far, far too long.
-
Jan is not a real character any more. Now she's just a cartoon character who acts irrationally and has plastic in her torso.
-
dude, I don't care what you say. I love Pammy. Even though, realistically, she fulfills the type of... the girl that I intellectually, logically decide I am attracted to, and pursue, only to realize eventually that... girls who are too nice to say "boo" and afraid to have an opinion half the time are not really that attractive to me.
I still feel really unsatisfied by that episode. It was so cut-off. Basically, half an hour is too short for a television show. That's all.

Tell that to ATHF. Or ATHFCMFFT even moreso.
-
I only watched the pre-intro portion because of the World Series. Time to check if NBC.com does on-demand viewing!
*checks*
And they do!
-
Okay, just got done watching last night's episode and I'll be goddamned if that wasn't the funniest one all season. I am back on the boat. The only real cute pam and jim moments were actually funny, like when she was teasing him about second life or when he put his arm around to to fend off that waiter/biker guy.
-
for those who had oink, what do you think about this: http://torrentfreak.com/the-pirate-bay-to-bring-back-oink-071026/
I think it is cool for other reasons, but cannot be as good as oink for some time. Also, don't remember if that article mentions it (read it last night) but TPB guy and OiNK guy are at a conference with some other popular torrent sites. Wonder what will come of it.
