Title: Lasagna Cat: Bizarre live action performances of Garfield strips
Post by: LCB on January 18, 2008, 08:56:27 am
Lasagna Cat (http://www.lasagnacat.com)

The latest sensastion sweeping the internet, yeah but I was hypnotized by these, which obviously had some effort put into them. This was apparently a project months in the making by the folks involved with the Fatal Farm series of "alternative" TV show intros and the tutorial spoofs at Mark Erickson's Infinite Solutions (http://www.marksinfinitesolutions.com).

I have to give kudos to these people for managing to dress up a guy so he looks a lot like Jon Arbuckle, and their use of green screen.

Among the vids available:

Garfield believes a whistle he found is broken, but it is actually a dog whistle. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJUmwWHtSHE)

Jon forces Garfield to do a humiliating dance. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_UdvyPPvDwQ) "Dance for me, Garfield."

Garfield hits Jon. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCovaoDlpk8) "You're mean!"

Garfield watches Jon make toast. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUUNslMcGh8) "Yee haw!"

Jon realizes he's using Garfield's cat brush to brush his own hair.
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySGtniX4QrU) "Oh no! I'm using the CAT BRUSH!"

Garfield makes light of Jon's social awkwardness. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHIhzG66ONU) "The entire female population."

Good shit.

Garfield hits Jon. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCovaoDlpk8) "You're mean!"

The ballpark in the background is RFK Stadium.

Oh my God.  Something new in the Garfield realm.  Its only been 20 years, I guess.

That was a hideous representation of the Cat himself though.  Looked more like the Achewood Garfield.  Wearing the big eye mask, naturally.

Gotta give it up for Lasgna-Cat and Tongue-Dog playing the theme from "Taxi".

I mean, that is one hell of a theme song for a teevee show.

That's what makes "Taxi" the perfect show to find in syndication at 1:30 in the morning when you can't fall asleep and you're vaguely disappointed in the world. That song makes things slightly more okay in that time, in that place.

08/18/1978's music video is best because... it is a final-fantasy battle screen for some reason.

I don't know why that's so funny but it is.

EDIT: This internet fad will memetasticize when someone combines it with the old "Arbuckle" strips.
