Title: How do you say in English...
Post by: dejavroom on June 20, 2008, 04:45:34 pm
...Those events where models walk on the catwalk, displaying clothes in their bodies and so on? In Portuguese it would be "desfile de moda", which literally translates to "fashion parade". Is that it, "fashion parade", or is there a better term for it?

(Edit: Found it already, feel free to delete)

I went with "parade", but took note of this option as well.

I kinda like "fashion parade" better. All Kate Moss coming out wearing something hot with a sign that says "Ann Arbor Kiwanis," all Tyra Banks being accompanied by the Roosevelt High School Marching Progressives.

It would be nice if models had to dodge tiny Shriner cars on the runway.  And maybe they could throw candy, since they're clearly not going to eat it themselves.

As you might gather from the entertainment value that we are getting out of this, deja, 'fashion parade' is not very good colloquial English.

Haha, thanks, I only saw this now. I was trying to help an acquaintance who's abroad doing some art-related course, he needed to get the term right for his resumé... But he's kind of a untalented twit anyway, so fuck him.
