Bobby's "Stargiraffe Hitler" clip reminded me of something. Back in the late 80's, as part of USA Network's "Up All Night" show, they used to show a goofy, low-production value Japanese ***** vs. monster show that was kind of a live-action Voltron, a predecessor to Power Rangers if you will. It was overdubbed in English with comedic intent.
What the hell was that called? A tiny can of Dr. Pepper to the first who can remind me of the name. Bonus points if you post a YouTube link.

Was it Ultraman? (http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x38ek1_ultraman-jack--fighting_fun) That's actually from earlier. I remember it from the early/mid 70's when I was a kid.

Are you thinking of USA Up All Night's predecessor, "Night Flight"?
Then we're talkin' "Dynaman".

DYNAMAN! Winner!
LFM is a rad friend. You. are. rad.

It's a predecessor to Power Rangers in a quite literal sense - each year's Power Rangers series is an adaptation of the previous year's "Super Sentai" series (Sentai means "taskforce" or "special operations group"). Dynaman is an earlier Super Sentai series, so it's part of the same franchise as the shows Power Rangers uses and probably shares a few actors.

I watched more television in my childhood than most adults will watch in their entire lives.
It is basically my superpower. Happy to help.
