lie bot, what is the saddest thing?
oh, right.
-
Beautiful.
Has to be one of my favourite strips ever already!
Damn, that's fine!
Daaaaamn!
The towel's just brilliant.
-
Look at Ray's hat in the last panel - LOOK AT IT!
-
That's a PIMPIN' hat fo' shizzle.
So is the Subaru Brat like, the worst car ever, driven on the ugliest road?
-
Look at Ray's hat in the last panel - LOOK AT IT!
That came out so like the Fritatta!
Obviously not like a Fritatta.
Ah, you know what I mean!
-
Heh! Ray's hat has a feather in it. I wonder if he's wearing lederhosen...
Also, what about the balding, Richard Deacon-looking, obviously middle management of Hell, Inc., devil?
-
A breath of fresh air in Achewood, after that lovely dark episode. Hooray for light hearted self referential jolliness.

I have to agree - I liked the last storyline, but it's a relief to not be filled with dread.
-
...it's a relief to not be filled with dread.
That's what I always say!
-
Shameful confession: when I was a wee small kid, the first car I can remember my parents owning was a Brat. A light yellow Brat. Possibly the ugliest car in the history of ever, but I loved it.
Anyway, the strip's good, but the sudden stylistic change was really whiplashy. It's all... well... light and sketchy again. How bizarre.
-
I hope Ray still has access to his Sony money when he comes back. It's a convenient McGuffin for when Teador is suddenly driving a hovercraft or something. We can just be like, "I guess Ray bought it for him with his phat Sony cash."
Speaking of Teador, he has the most 3-dimensional eyelids ever.
-

Well, it's not that light. I mean, Ray is in HELL!
-
And Onstad continues along drawing new vehicles.
I wonder what Satan drives? I'm thinking something really annoying and compact, like a "Le Car" or something, so that he can park at the mall and everyone thinks there's a space there and then they see the tiny car in the slot and they're all like "Fuckin' 'Le Car' bastard!"
-
Satan drives the F1 Ferrari 2003. He won the championship with it this year.
-
...it's a relief to not be filled with dread.
...And it was dreadful to be void of relief.
Love the hat. Too bad we couldn't have borne witness to the drawn out, melodramatic death scene. That would have been interesting.

Well, I meant in terms of background -- we suddenly have white background instead of black, for example. But, yes, the impact of HELL should not be underestimated.
(Edit: Post 555. So close... and yet so far...)
-
Heh! Ray's hat has a feather in it. I wonder if he's wearing lederhosen...
Yes, I didn't see it as a pimpin' hat, but rather an Alpen-type-yodeling-lederhosen-wearing hat. I was wondering if it was part of Ray's sentence in Hell to wear this hat, or whether it was part of his ordinary travelling outfit.
I think probably the latter.
-

-
Ray's hat is somehow perfect. I'm not sure why.
-
Lederhosen hats confuse and disturb me.
-
I like it, but for some reason dont ever want to see it fleshed out. ever.
-
Agreed. This is funnier than the actual storyline could've been. It would probably be like Ray misquoting statistics and generally making no sense.
The hat reminded me of the pimp that chases Homer in The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson. But then there's the backpack which almost makes it seem like he was out hiking and accidently wandered in.

-
I reckon Satan has to drive a customised BMW.
-
Oh yeah?
-
Satan is the Prince of Darkness right? So he rides around in a carriage drawn by the damned with the harness bolted to their bones and hooked directly to the flesh. And people have to lie in front of him to make a human road for the spiked tires. The sides are made from tanned skins and so forth.
-
Oh yeah?
OH MY GOD SWEET JESUS ON THE CROSS, IT'S A LEDERHOSEN HAT
... okay, better now. Calming, calming... going to the happy place...
-
:pimp:
-
:pimp:
No, that's obviously a pimp hat, especially in context. The other is quite definitely a lederhosen hat.
(My roommate tutors a guy who walks around campus in one of those lederhosen hats basically all day. The rest of us have started calling the kid "Johann" behind his back.)
-
At least he's not wearing a crown; I can imagine Ray dying from getting his bone on, what with all the sour cream he eats.
CortJstr, which epsiode did Crow say that?
-
Okay, I was going to join this forum because I wanted to order a cookbook and was all scared that Onstad was some sort of secret crazy that did all sorts of research on you if you placed an order and delayed it accordingly -
then I was going to join because I had this conversation on the phone with my girlfriend (who is, admittedly slowly, working her way through the archives) and she refused to believe that Pat is a dick -
but this takes the cake, people.
You have never watched The Price is Right.
You have never seen the little mountain climbing man, with his hat and knapsack and low budget accoutrements.
This is straight up Camus here people

I love you J0ugh!
Beautiful.
(edit: beginning to love you less!)

Jough.*
Edit: Wow! Sorry, had to see for myself and whatnot

It's definitely an Oktoberfest hat. In Hell, it's oompah oompah music 24/7

I had an acquaintance in high school who once got really stoned and started ranting about how the little mountain-climbing man was actually possessed by a tortured soul, and that eerie yodeling was actually the wailing of a damned soul suffering The Eternal Hells of Bob Barker.
Who knows? Maybe she's right. Maybe that's where Ray's headed. Enjoy your Brat while you can, Smuckles!

Please, people: have your pot smoking friends spayed or neutered.

What's with all this H-E-Double Hockey sticks replacing H-E-L-L in our posts? Are we in Branson Missouri?

Wise to remember that so far about 50% of the stable population here have discussed the fact that we/they smoke pot. Or something like that.
I've noticed that every time I'm sober I pull random numbers out of the air. If I were high right now, I just wouldn't care, I'd laugh and get on with it.
And then I'd start wondering if my pet in AC2 has AI sophisticated enough to be conscious, but is unable to communicate with me, and in my unawareness of the situation, by typing /pet alldie I am really consigning it to a painful and fiery death.
But I'm not. So I don't.
-
Well, I 'd be discussing entropy with anyone who'd listen, so its all for the best.

Best foot put forward directly into my own waiting, supple mouth. My snark can be traced to the following:
1. My own unfortunate violent allergy to the stuff.
2. Do you love the word / concept microcosm? Oh no you don't, not compared to this one clown I knew in high school for whom all became microcosm after a couple of tokes. He could and would, at length, cram anything into anything. What's your man got to do with me? You cannot love it like that.
-
No man, Dave's not here.
-

Man, I wish I knew more guys who could cram anything into anything given enough pot. My social circle would be so much more exciting.
Anyway, I entirely approve of both the word and concept of "microcosm." The word sounds very nice, and I think the horrible EC comic reprint I remember from childhood that involved the guy constantly shrinking and falling through endless universes inside an atom has permanently endeared me to the general idea.

If memory serves, EC was also real big into those "infinity" covers, wherein someone (usually aliens) would be depicted reading that very comic - cover prominent, natch - and on that cover, etc etc, e.g. HO HO, SILLY EARTHLINGS, HOW DID THEY KNOW, as the planet erupts in Spaghetti-O colored mushroom clouds in the far distance. When I was twelve, I thought this was mind-blowing.
Also remember some episode of Mork and Mindy wherein Mork shrunk down and down and down into some... [INSERT CLIFFHANGER / SECOND OF TWO PARTS HERE] Scared the ever-loving shit out of me as a kid. I think yeast was involved. I refuse to research this.
EDIT: TO DO - FUNNY, VAGUELY NAUGHTY COMMENT ON "CRAMMING" GOES HERE
-
Violent allergy?
Wow..... finding that out must have been a blast.

Oh, shit, my throat is closing up and all that laughter in the other room must be directed at me and I can't really, you know, breathe and this old issue of Spin magazine leads me to believe that music journalism sure is underrated and there is the pressing issue of choking on my fuck*ng tongue
"Are you OK in there? You should be in here! We're watching The Road Warrior!"
The stupidest years are the ones taken entirely too seriously, as it turns out.
