Title: LEEEEEE! - Nov 8, 2009
Post by: Chump Change on November 08, 2009, 07:33:16 am

Todd bursts forth from a puddle of his own urine. Next strip, Cornelius's book makes millions. I liked this arc; even if this ends up being the last strip I think it ends a lot cleaner than the whole Lash of Thanatos thing.

Before this whole thing started in September, it was supposed to be a week of one-shots.

Original thread title: Today, I eat... ENOUGH chocolate.

'Yeun-ja, who grows more bald with each child' was also considered.

Sort of a Flowers for Algernon ending.

The briefly realized "Lee" slowly recedes back into the identity that is "Narration".

This little arc would'a probably not lost so much steam had it not been released at such an achingly slow pace but...

The ending's a nice touch. Daisy Daisy gimmie your answer do and all that.

Three plus signs issued in rapid succession on just about any analog modem causes the modem to drop into command mode, where instead of passing on the information received from the local computer on to the remote modem, it instead interprets this information as commands. If the local computer subsequently issued the command "ATH" to the local modem, this would cause it to hang up, thereby disconnecting it from the remote modem. "EOF" would not to my knowledge be part of any modem command set, but this is a Mystical Realism Modem, so who knows. "EOF" means "End of File" and in the present Mystical context seems to signify finality.

Dang, I was not really into this arc, but what a good ending. It was actually sad.

I'm like 3 months older than you, too.

Did you notice that a newb started this thread and perfectly followed the board protocol?  Well I would put the title after the date, but why quibble, these things aren't set in stone.

I gave a can.  Welcome to the board Chumpy!

I like you guys. You have pride.

You can tell me in an instant where Roast Beef said that thing that one time about noodles, but you ain't ever owned a modem?   What the fuck, man?

Remember the good old days when sending someone on dialup a CTCP PING +++ATH0 on IRC or an ICMP ping containing those bytes would disconnect them?

I did but we only used Prodigy and AOL.

This arc reminds me of an Interactive Fiction game my friends and I were planning on making, in which the narrator would gradually gain sentience and then die as a result of the player's mission.

The idea was that the narrator was the spirit of the French Revolution and the player would be compromising her ideals.

Of all the projects we never followed through on, I'm gladdest about this one.

If anything, this was my only guff with this story line.  Mexican Magical Realism always brings the crazy and the ultimate fulfilment.  The KMR seemed a little too much like the real world.

Then again, my repeated viewings of Team America could have some bearing on this perception.
