Title: A webcomic from 1827
Post by: dejavroom on November 26, 2009, 02:04:22 am
Well, ok, it wasn't created as a webcomic, but now it is hosted on the web. It's by Rodolphe Töppfer, who can be said to be the first comic book artist, like, fuck*ng ever (this story ended up being published in American newspapers in the beginning of the last century, and it's said to have left its mark there...)

Here it is: The Adventures of M. Vieux Bois (http://leonardodesa.interdinamica.net/comics/lds/vb/VieuxBois01.asp?p=1)

I'm particularly fond of "The hoss cannot move because of exceeding fatness". (http://leonardodesa.interdinamica.net/comics/lds/vb/VieuxBois10.asp?p=10)

Second suicide. Fortunately the rope is too long. Mr. V.B. believes himself hanged for 28 and a half hours. (http://leonardodesa.interdinamica.net/comics/lds/vb/VieuxBois04.asp?p=4)

Töpffer was working some pretty rough chuckles.

Damn, that is eerily close to modern comics that I shamefully enjoy because they seem too delibrately angsty.
