It's nice to see some classic Philippe after last week's complaining of Otters Gone Wild. And is cracked crab a west coast thing? We only have blue crabs out here.
Lyle needs to return his Christmas present. Sorry but it's just not doing it for me.
-
Lyle's revenge for letting the gorilla-phobia info slip to the wrong people.
-
Woah, that creeped the hell out of me there!
I didn't notice it at first then it started to like, attack my visual cortex and eat my brain. Woah.
I could get used to it, but I'm just not sure. Maybe he just trimmed his moustache?
-
Lyle's mouth freaks the crap out of me. I cannot deal with it.
Otherwise, class-A strip. Very old-school feeling, like the days when the cats were still just "the dirtiest dudes in town."
-
Maybe he overheard me and my brother discussing just that, the need for some old school ones. Well, no...
*sigh*
I love the new Achewood. Just as much as I love the old ones. I wouldnt want to see him revert full time. But it's nice to see some new old style ones.
I mean the first 10 pages of the first volume crack me up.
My brother picked up the books I got my mom at christmas, looked at Philippe standing on the manual and almost wet himself. And then you get onto the trailmix and the, I can't remember what it is Philippe hands back all wet...
Suffice to say however, that Achewood has two new avid readers. My brother has it top of his list of comics (knew it would happen) and a dear friend of mine is now similarly obsessed with it. Niether of them have got any work done this year.

Scarier mouth:
Lyle or Philippe?

hilarious

Yeah, I'm on the anti-that-mouth-but-this-is-a-good-strip brigade. Why do I even bother posting, when you are all so very perspicacious?
-
That mouth reminds me of the turtle from those "IF YOU CAN DRAW ME YOU CAN MAKE THOUSANDS OF DOLLAR$$$$$$$!" ads in the back of "Boy's Life."
Now Lyle needs to wear a sweater and a jeff cap.
-
Mouth: eh.
Strip: eh.
My verdict.
Maybe it's just an "eh" day.

Those ads are back for the 21st. century. Right here in cyberspace. I've seen them a bunch of times lately. Maybe Onstad has been taking notes.
How can he eat Crab with that mouth?

Clearly it is for you. Because "cracked crab dance" and "Kind of if that's OK" would make good strips alone. And when they are combined into one strip of goodness? Well look out my friend because you've got some comedy coming your way.

It's Mr. Bear's Stomper. (http://www.achewood.com/index.php?date=10022001) And it is wet because of a problem.
Yeah, I laughed too.

i agree on the whole mouth thing. i mean, i know too many people bitch at onstad for doing stuff they don't like but i really can't understand why he did it. i really can't.
still... hee hee today

It looks less like Lyle grew a mouth than it look like he started properly waxing his moustache. It now curls properly from the lip, rather than being a big bushy mess.
Having a handlebar moustache requires more effort than you might imagine. Maybe Lyle's giving more thought to personal grooming these days.
Edit: Corrected my dumb spelling. Dumb comments still not corrected.

Paul? Uh, Paul, is your Spidey sense tingling? This thread is calling you!

Having a Handlebar moustache means you get to learn that "different" is really just a code word for "weird." It keeps a lot of people at bay.
I like wearing a handlebar for several reasons. First and foremost I love the way it looks. I think it's sexy and some ladies agree. I also like that since it's become so rare in modern society (although I think it's starting to make a minor comeback) that it does stand out and make a bold statement. But unlike tattoos and body piercings it's stylish and sofisticated and not simply a pathetic attempt to look cool.
Having said all that, I think the question was, how much effort does it require. On a day to day basis, not a whole lot. It takes me about 3-5 minutes to apply the wax and make the curls. It does require periodic maintanence. I trim about once every two weeks or so. Also, the wax is water soluable so it's necessary to be careful not to let it get too wet.
Much more than you ever wanted to know.

I wonder if one can make handlebar pubes using that wax.

Wow, now in the event that I die and am reincarnated as a hard-drinking stuffed tiger and/or Paul, I can continue with proper handlebar-mustache maintenance. Always educational, this board.
