heh. nice.
chalk up another notch in the "beef is the coolest guy ever" column.
-
Very stylish smoke, too.
-
Why do I get the feeling Beef's going to be using the Roombas for respiration at some point?
-
That silhouette is just stunning. Lovely stuff.
And you're so very right sensate, unless they replace something altogether scarier with Roomba parts.
-
Does Beef know what really happened? Because then he'd just be scamming Ray for some free robovacuums which would be hella rad.
-
What happens when an Aibo meets a robovac in a battle to the death?
-
God, Beef putting out the cigarette in silouette was the first laugh out loud moment for me since... well, okay, since Friday.
Good stuff. Beef was just downright icy.
-
I love the exact wording "I recall being particularly interested in the Pro-Elite model."
-
Why would he need two Roombas? One for upstairs and one for downstairs? So they can do battle with each other? Or for more nefarious purposes?
-
So they can be friends. A lonely roomba isn't the saddest thing but it's pretty high on the list.
-
It takes two to Roomba. [ducks]
-
So, when Ray says that when he got his ass beat down by almost seven Puerto Rican chicks, does that mean that six beat the crap out of him, and one just chased him a few blocks; or that one of the seven was half-Puerto Rican and half-German?
(I suspect he really means six; Onstad is a master of phrasing.)
-
Man, Beef works cheap, too. The Pro Elite model is only $250.00 (USD).
So Beef is essentially doing this for $500 (provided Ray doesn't buy him any of the myriad accessories).
-
The silhouette work in this strip is just gorgeous. It adds an appropriately noir-ish shadow over Beef's entire little enterprise here.
I, too, hope he knows what actually happened and has an easier time of it, although he may have to offer Teodor a robovac to shut him up.
Shameful confession: I had to reread the original strip to understand why Ray was getting beaten up by Puerto Rican women. My first thought was "wait, since when do women from Puerto Rico get violent about a guy all pourin' zin on his peepee?"

Now this is the question that I did not find myself asking after the strip was read, but you can bet I'm asking it now. In my head.

What Beef should do is collect from Ray and then turn around and offer services to fix the hack to Teodor after telling him that the hacker probably knows who he (teodor) is and that he (beef) can 'fix' it....and collect more roombas in the process.
Fistful of Dollars style.

Good point, especially since all Beef would have to do to get Ray's profile removed is send an angry e-mail to Yahoo eg.
Dear YOHOO:
I am Ray Smuckles and you have a pitcher of my bizzone on your intarweb. Someboyd put it their without my permissions. Take if off NOW!.
RAY
P.S. I do not pour pink zin on my bidness. Who would do such a thing? I use Shiraz.

It also says something that one was offered up front and one after the job was done. Roast could just take the one and be satisfied, and then offer Ray an explanation why the job couldn't be done, and still keep it.
But no, because one is still coming, you can be damn sure he will get the job done, at all costs. Ray must know how important having two is to Roast.
-
That, or Ray just has the idea that "half up front, half after the job" is The Way These Things Are Done and isn't sure how to give someone half a Roomba.

This was sort of the impression I got -- not so much that Beef actually needed two Roombas but that Ray offered him two for that neat, 'underground' feel and Beef didn't question. Hey, why argue with the guy who's giving you an extra Roomba?
