What? This is easily the least Phillippe-like I can recall. Like Tuesday's, only six times as weird.
"Gin, Phillippe, and Beer: Three Bad Dudes."
And his otter mom wept.

That woman has really big pant-legs.

Ricky is here. (http://www.angelfire.com/tv/11Show/Ricky/Information.html) Look at him, he is a sexy arse.

I just saw the first season of The Office on DVD (and BBC America is rerunning it again starting this week, I believe), and it was easily one of the funniest shows I've seen in a long time.
To stay on topic: today's photo captions weren't funny. But the very existence of the Rod Stewart musical makes up for that.
-
Man, who needed a Rod Stewart musical?
-
My guess would be Rod's bank account.
I'll preface this by saying that I've always kind of liked Rod Stewart. I got home from work early a month or so ago and the TV was on to Oprah. Rod was the guest and he was singing and posing for all the ladies. When did Rod Stewart turn into Tom Jones/Anthony Newley/Engelbert Humperdink? Sheesh.

1978.
-
Rod Stewart is my grandfather.
Ok, not that Rod Stewart.

I will probably be lynched by people who think The Doors were cool, but I've always thought this is what would have happened to Jim Morrison if he'd lived long enough.

I'm with you. I like The Doors and all, but never understood the extent of Jim Morrison's appeal.
C'mon, C'mon, C'mon
Touch me babe!
What lyricism! What poetry! The voice of a generation! Suuuuure.

heh, i read some dude in the guardian saying about how tautological musicals about music are. "it's like baking a pie pie".
made me chuckle.

That is funny as hell.
It's like reality TV. No one wants to create anymore. Why else would the number one show on broadway for the last couple of years be a revival? And before that, one based on a Disney movie?
It's sad.

Ben Elton wrote the Rod Stewart musical? Am I reading that poster right? Ben Elton? Ben "Blackadder" Elton? Ben "Young Ones" Elton? Ben "Thin Blue Line" El- Oh okay, the guy who tossed off Thin Blue Line would do a musical about Rod Stewart.

August, I knew you were the kind of happening guy who would get this.

Like I've probably posted elsewhere on this site: The Doors were a wedding band with a drunk "poet" up front. The 1970s would not have been kind to them.
Morrison would probably have ballooned up to about three bills, and the other three would have continued on with a new lead singer...perhaps Marty Balin of the Jefferson Whatever, or a post-Montrose Sammy Hagar. They would be killed in a freak lightning accident at an open-air festival in Brussels; Morrison would subsequently slim down to 215 lbs. and appear on The Mike Douglas Show to announce his new career as a professional golfer.
OT: Not as awesome as the other strips this week, but still better than an actual hiatus.

I was thinking, not as good as nothing but still better than a hiatal hernia.
I'm holding my tongue because the strips are usually good after a break.

OT: Strip not as awesome as this alternate reality description. I loved the Doors when I was young and on dope, but it's funny this came up, because last night I was singing to my sweetie (as I often do) and after I said "the monk bought lunch - he bought a little - yes he did" it ocurred to me that Jim was not always putting them over the fence, if you know what I mean.
Edit: fairly critical edit, too (3 times to get it right).

I, too, was once upon a time one of those stupid teenagers that thought the music of the Doors was "deep." I seriously believed that their music would play a central role in the coming revolution. Never mind the fact that Jim Morrison had been DEAD for nearly 25 years.
-
Oh, if I had any power over the world of music, 'Light My Fire' and most of the Doors' catalgue would be in hell forever with Stairway,

When I was in London last year I stayed one night in a Hotel which was about two blocks from this theatre. It's directly across the street from Victoria station and I passed it several times on my way to and from the tube. That's a very big Rod Stewart to be walking past. When I walked down to the Astoria in the West End I noticed Ben Elton's name on the marquee for yet another "music musical." This one called We Will Rock You (http://www.clubwizard.co.uk/reviews/theatreReview.php?_CWR_GAREA=1&_CWR_RVID=229).

Yes. Basically Ben Elton sold his soul to Satan and DeNiro (who produced the Queen musical and got Elton to write it).

I meant to say "That's a very big Rod."

"That's a very big Rod."
You have no idea how often I hear that.
