@achewood I had to look up how pi is derived. It has been sixteen years since the SAT, yet still, I feel very ashamed

I'm seeing "add poll" as a link instead of a button now. The spacing is vaguely different in a hard to pin-down way. The "Author" and who's viewing list at the top seems new.

The difference between a good system and a shitty system is far greater than the difference between a great system and a good system, IMO.

I have a couple of those Sonos wireless speakers now and I love the bejeezus out of them. The sound is fine, but the ability to stream all my MP3s, and Amazon Cloud Player, and radio stations from anywhere, and content from music blogs, well that's all good.

We're doing that but Bose instead of Sonos. The Lady hated my big 90s system with 4' front speakers etc and we could get a Bose with built-in AirPlay for free from Amex points. So we replaced a thing that took up the whole corner with a shelf unit that works for playing mp3s at a party which is 90% of our in-home music listening. And this way we can throw another one in the back room and have them sync up.

I was at Record Store Day and the dude in front of me was talking about his headphones and home system where he claimed he could hear where the individual members of his favorite band were standing in relation to each other.

Sell it on Etsy!

I think the Bloggess would buy that.

File this one under "things I wish I didn't know."

I think we have a whole section of the board for that.

Okay, so a FB friend posted this article and this one annoys me. I 100% support people anywhere on the gender spectrum. I also refuse to accept calling people "ladies" is offensive.

IIRC when I last had an AP stylebook (ca. 2000) it said to avoid "lady" and "ladies" as they're often read as condescending or sarcastic.

You know that curse "may you live in interesting times"? I'd like to propose a new version "may you live in a house with a yard." The lady picked up free flowers from another neighbor which required planting said flowers. Hell of lame.

A french bulldog scared of his farts would be living in constant terror. It would be like if Bob Hope was scared of noses or if Onstad was scared of procrastinating.

When I cam home after working Saturday, I found my refrigerator had taken a trip down to Old Mexico:

I can't see Delores without thinking of Steve, Don't Eat It!

My dentist is supposed to be making me a mouthguard to help with the grinding.

When I first got mine I hated it. It hurt like hell putting it in for the first couple weeks until my gums toughened up. Now I feel weird if I somehow fall asleep without it. Though I do occasionally have a dream about eating Swedish giraffe or Jujube Fruits or something and being unable to get them off my teeth.

Today my work wife informed me that for March madness you have to fill out the whole bracket all the way to the championship instead of doing it round by round in a sane way. I just assume people flip coins because without knowing who's even going to be in the games that just seems like a recipe for cascading failure.

I want to staple this to the forehead of the guy on the other side of my cube wall who eats at his desk 3-4 times a day. Yeah, you're diabetic so you have to eat like that but go to the goddamn break room you loud-eating, drink-slurping, tuna-having piece of shit motherfucker.

My prediction is when the Superbowl gets to L they will drop the Roman Numerals and just call it Superbowl 50. JL, if the league gets its way and they go to an 18 game schedule you might get your wish and the game will push even later in the year. Also, it's Unamerican to not love the Superbowl.

We had a "let's play boardgames" party on SB Sunday this year. Two or three people complained the game wasn't on because they somehow missed the point of the party. It was eventually put on with no sound. Yet when the Tivo needed both tuners to record our regular Sunday night shows and the game was switched off nobody noticed for at least 40 minutes.

Did anybody else back the documentary Stripped? I've backed 4 docs on Kickstarter and received 2 so far. Stripped was one of those ones that seemed like it was never actually going to be finished but given the news yesterday I'm getting pretty jazzed about it. They were asking backers if any of us had friends in the press and I was going to see if wombat had a hook-up but that seems kind of unnecessary now seeing as Bill Watterson drawing their poster got them coverage in NYT, WashPo, Slate, etc.

Here's the poster if you haven't seen it: http://www.avclub.com/article/bill-wattersons-first-publicly-available-cartoon-1-201587

We never got the paper at my house so I didn't find out who Dave Barry was until his tv show (starring Harry Anderson). I had all his books for at one point and read them dozens of times in my early teens. I actually just gave them all away a few weeks ago when my parents moved and made me finally take the rest of my shit out of their house. Though I still recall some of my favorite bits from time to time (fut-wise it was extremely bee)

Also, that faded blue color somehow imparts a level of comfort orders of magnitude greater than that experienced in any other hue of lower extremity attire.  How does that work?  Are congenitally blind people aware that they're more comfortable when they're wearing jeans?

That blind movie critic dude said once he almost exclusively wears blue jeans because somebody told him jeans go with anything so he doesn't have to worry about matching colors he can't see.
