There is a meme/phrase that stresses me out that goes around a lot on twitter, where women talk about how they date "mediocre men." This makes me frustrated bc I'm sure a lot of people date people who suck, but "mediocre" makes me think you're judging someone by all the wrong metrics!

The Bible says something about pointing out the speck in your neighbors eye and ignoring the mote in your own eye. Which I think is incredibly true. And by that logic, these women dating mediocre men are likely pretty mediocre themselves. Let's face it, nobody these days wants to take responsibility for their shortcomings. At least not publicly. It's too easy to sidestep and blame. It's because nobody presents their true face on social media, it's a curated approximation with most of the negative bits left on the cutting room floor. So literally everyone you meet is going to be a letdown from who they are on Twitter.

I think maybe you should adopt/borrow 20 more dogs, train 'em for a while and you can run full scrimmages.

Yes, yes, I am completely loving the football analogies. So, what breeds would be best suited for the different positions?

Let's see, for QB you gotta go with the Border Collie because they are the smartest. Wide Receiver, that's where you need speed, so greyhound. Of course Ash, we'd have your cattle dog playing safety. English Bulldog on the O-Line?

Well I have no idea whether you are less mature in real life than you seem on the internet... but you are certainly too old to date someone who acts like they are in middle school.

Preach!

Is that...is that disproven though?

I think the consensus is that it's probably cricket sounds, but they've been manipulated to sound like a choir. This article has a sound file of what it actually sounds like when you slow down a cricket chirp.

I'll take your point, but to be clear, dogs are racist as fuck!

Also, when Cattle Dhog wants to get to a ball he shoulder checks the loaner Lab and herds him out of line, just like a fuck*ng sheep.

That's great.  I love that.  I pretty much like dogs better than most people I know.
Even a crummy dog is better than most people.

This response doesn't make sense to me. I mean, I love dogs, they are awesome in many ways, but in this case I can't side with the dog. It's nice dog behavior, but imagine a human scenario. Dog wants his morning coffee for instance, but doesn't want to wait his turn so he cuts the queue and pushes the person in front out of the way. You would not think that dog was better than a human.

Some people will believe anything. In this case those people include Tom Waits and Robbie Robertson.

Throwing a ball in the dark for a black dog is some kinda funny. Nobody knows where nothing is, but they all charge around at full speed trying to figure it out.

Dogs can be extremely reckless.

Also: how many times will I go on dates, think they have gone really well and get a warm fuzzy feeling, only for the girl to start ignoring me? Will I eventually stop feeling foolish excitement? Hard to say.

My feeling is you rock these ladies so hard they just can't believe it's true. I mean, you're good looking, you have a seemingly infinite well of interesting things to talk about, and you can lay the pipe like a porn star. You're just too good to be true, Dan. So they have to invent reasons why you're not all your cracked up to be. Seriously, you're breaking hearts all over the five boroughs. I wouldn't be surprised if there were a Reddit thread about it.

At this point I think you can forget the guilt of hurting these people and begin to take pride in the fact of how hard you burned this bitch. That was laser guided, man. Cold as Ice. Good Job!
