Wine: Keep a red and a white on hand at all times. When choosing wines on the wine aisle, use this simple rhyme to make your selection: “Closer to the floor, is meant for the poor / closer to the lights, is more like for if Bono comes over.” -=RAY=-

Arts & Entertainment / Stripped
« on: February 27, 2014, 02:39:47 pm »
Did anybody else back the documentary Stripped? I've backed 4 docs on Kickstarter and received 2 so far. Stripped was one of those ones that seemed like it was never actually going to be finished but given the news yesterday I'm getting pretty jazzed about it. They were asking backers if any of us had friends in the press and I was going to see if wombat had a hook-up but that seems kind of unnecessary now seeing as Bill Watterson drawing their poster got them coverage in NYT, WashPo, Slate, etc.

Here's the poster if you haven't seen it:

To save you some time, no, the 2nd cookbook isn't available. No books are, actually. Just t-shirts, posters, prints, and mugs.

Sports & Leisure / Brandy
« on: February 07, 2012, 11:51:30 pm »
This month grandma turns 95. As you can imagine she's hard to shop for. A few times over the years she's mentioned a cocktail she used to love that nobody makes any more. So I'm getting her the ingredients for a stinger, white creme de menth and brandy. But I know dick-all about brandy. Can somebody suggest one?

Sports & Leisure / Food in St. Louis

My ladyfriend is going to St. Louis for a conference and needs recommendations on where to eat. Conference is at America’s Center and she's at a Mariott that she says is very near the Arch. She likely won't have a car.

Aaaaaaaand go!

[of course tI would be away right now]

That space baby can't be all that smart if he thinks Steve is a space bear. He clearly isn't, no tentacles. Plus look at his funny hat.

[edit: I think it's this same kid who wanted to learn spells:]

The fact that this didn't happen a while ago just proves that nobody is washing their hands after they use the bathroom. I mean, the hot water button is right there. That said, panel 9 is pretty terrific.

Quick Steve! Run back in the airlock while there's still time.

I was wondering if that was a normal gun considering Steve totally no-sold getting shot like 4 times.

Not Daisy Owl / Dinosaur Comics: now with stand-ins!

So now you can read the Dinosaur Comics archives but with other characters.

Here's my favorite so far:

If somebody asked me how many martial arts I you know I think I'd give them basically the same look.

OMG color WTF~! Actually I prefer the black and white. Ditto for The Tick and Dr. McNinja. Weird, I know.

Shouldn't Steve have a luchador mask? Awesome onomatopoeia update: FIRM

The bottom 3 panels were the best part for my money. I'd like to see Philippe call out the recession. Take things outside.

Lost in the infinite void of space? There's an app for that. </required bad joke>

It appears they made the space babies a little too smart for their own good. Except for the curly haired one, anyway.

That hatch doesn't look awfully secure. Can it really withstand the vacuum of space?

Happy birthday to my favorite small mammal caretaker and creator of imaginary internet persons such as myself.
