@achewood Jumping jacks, flinging myself off of low decks, yelling into an empty bottle of carrot juice. Trying to get in writing mode.

People & Places / I wonder what ever happened to

FlipConstantine? Sort of a bad post to exit on.

Arts & Entertainment / Band names
« on: May 16, 2012, 06:22:26 pm »
For what it's worth (and since the Shelby thread died on the vine) I'm going to set this off into the wild and see what happens. No real reason for this other than it doesn't quite fit into "what are you listening to".

Everybody likes that joke about "new band name". Anyway, here are four band names from actual bands I heard play that might fit that bill.

Trojan Hearse

That's gotta be close to the ultimate in not selling out. It doesn't matter how good your band is, if you have one of those names they will never be successful.

(Also, when I was in elementary school I made my first "new band name" joke and a substitute teacher overheard it. I am not sure why the name appealed to me, but I suggested "Anal Sweat and Goat Vomit" as the ultimate metal band name. I felt very relieved that the sub laughed and did not immediately have me expelled.)

People & Places / O, Ball?
« on: May 16, 2012, 12:39:48 am »
Dammit, I wished Oball a happy birthday last year and I will do it again! Let it never be said that I don't stand up for my Australian friends - now how about a round of knifey-spooney?

People & Places / Right about now, GKA court is in full effect
« on: May 12, 2012, 02:14:52 pm »
It's GKA's birthday!

Have the festivest of days!

History / The Cobra has run out of gas at last
« on: May 12, 2012, 02:07:56 pm »
Carroll Shelby is dead at 89.

Is the original Shelby Cobra the most replicated car in history? I once saw a knockoff Cobra (I hope) that had hit a light pole and looked like it had been almost completely bisected from the front to the rear.

Sports & Leisure / NFL 2012 - Reign of the Ginger Hammer
« on: April 19, 2012, 04:32:09 pm »
The old topic is old, and long, and we were going to need one of these eventually. Plus I have this (albeit somewhat NCAA as opposed to NFL):

I could watch that for days.

People & Places / The Melancholy Batman

It's Bozack's birthday today! Or maybe 235W116 or whatever the hell it was originally - I can't remember. Anyway, he's still officially a mod here, so I figured it was worth a thread.

I hope those two crazy kids are alright out there in the great big world.

People & Places / Also, it's pubdoggy's birthday
« on: March 26, 2012, 02:59:09 pm »
This guy!

Not a terribly active poster, but always seemed more active to me - I think because of his avatar.

However, he takes a nice photo, and looks a little like Trainspotting-era Ewan MacGregor.

History / Rush Limbaugh

Ok, I got your attention.

Did everyone see the Funny or Die video about women's reproductive health? I didn't put it in the YT thread, because it isn't a YT page. Apologies if I missed it somewhere.

Not Daisy Owl / C&H

Thought I'd toss it out there. It's old as hell, but I don't see it anywhere. Go fuck a landmine is a fun line.

History / Capital One acquires ING Direct
« on: February 22, 2012, 03:32:15 am »
NYT take on it.

I don't really care for Capital One, and I suspect this is going to make me not like ING Direct as much. I'm just assuming that any changes that occur will be for the worse, leaving aside the "too big to fail" thing. I suppose I should flash the ACap signal.

People & Places / Happy birthday indeed! I mean, nDed!
« on: February 16, 2012, 09:00:33 am »
Happy birthday to nDed, a person who doesn't post a whole lot but has been around for quite some time and is still involved. Also, said member is from (roughly) my neck of the woods.

Arts & Entertainment / Etta James has died
« on: January 20, 2012, 05:30:56 pm »
Yeah, Fuck You Friday.

People & Places / Happy birthday, 'dawg.
« on: December 25, 2011, 06:26:16 am »
He won't show up to celebrate, but he was a pretty good contributor once. Pour one out for him if you have one.

Not Daisy Owl / GameToilet
« on: November 30, 2011, 08:58:01 pm »
I was remiss in not putting this here - GameToilet, a comic composed of half-baked flash game ideas. A typical example that I enjoyed.
