Dang. '79 was a big year for rock albums. No question.

That would be my Senior Year.

How about Limericks?

My 85 year old Aunt told me a limerick last week that made me blush.

On the breast of a lady named Gail
Was tattood the price of her tail
And on her behind
For the sake of the blind
Was the same information in braile

What a marvelous ditty.

Of course this thread is now gonna suffer from the Hindenberg effect or something.  Because we are literally trying to get this thread locked it never will.  Maybe that's the Achewood effect.

Achewood / Five Favorite Strips - The Results are IN!

It looks like Liquor Cabinet Taste Test is pulling into the lead followed closely by Antiques Road Show, English Speaking Pizza, Worst Poker Hand Ever and Onstad's Birthday.  I haven't done any tabulating, that's just a quick glance and it looks about right.  It's way too close to call yet.  We need more votes.

Achewood / Onstad does not deserve this
« on: August 05, 2003, 03:33:00 am »
I think it's a good thing that Onstad threw us out into the street because the member rankings here are so much cooler than lame rappers beverage choices.  I'm just dying to know what comes after "your old friend Blister."

I've figured this board out.  The surest way to get a thread locked is to make a bad pun.

I knew an Aggie (that's Texan for Pollock btw in the joke realm) who thought Mini Pearl was a short beer.  He had a Japanese cousin that on Dec. 7, 1941 attacked Pearl Baily.

Just a test.

Wait a minute, I'm sure I meant that as a compliment.  Ya know, because she's so well spoken and knowedgable about, well everydamn thing, I figured she was at least middle aged.  Now I can see that she is a mere girl.  How could she possibly know so much, yet be so young.  I was complimenting her brain.

Arts & Entertainment / News Flash: Lileks forum added

However, I wouldn't want the Lileks people to overrun this board. This really is a board for Achewood readers, so I would have to ask Mr. Lileks specifically *not* to link to us in the context of being a Lileks discussion forum -- but if he linked to us as part of a blurb about Achewood, that might be OK. Besides, I imagine if he wanted a forum of his own, he would have one.

Oh, I thought we were the outlaw board that didn't need (or particularly want) the artist approval or input.  And since we've got an Lileks section underway anyhow, I thought it would be natural if more lileks lovers were to join us.  Jough's not a fan though, so he may not be all that thrilled to host a Lileks forum, which as I stated before, will undoubtably dwarf our tiny Achewood group.

I think what I really want is to be in a place where Lileks may appear and actually respond to one of my post and have the kind of dialouge that we weren't able to establish with Onstad.  But, as we know, it's not good when the curtain comes down and Oz is revealed to be a frail old man.  I have no idea if that analogy makes sense.  Probably not.

Hey J, you're much younger than I would have guessed.  I guess it's your stern shoolteacher avatar that threw me off.

That's a hellofa picture btw, I love it.

Achewood / Today's comic (4 Aug)

It's threads like this one that are the reason there is no Achewood message board on Dumbrella anymore.

btw, Jough, your parody kicks ass.

Though achewood may grace our lives with the fleeting instants of glee that momentarily offset our incurable sporty sadness, and though it may come to us like the wind (without our asking or paying), its piercing hilarity comes from an awful place. I won't say I'm not glad to have curdled it.

I don't know what to do here, i'm sort of at a loss.  I've spent a lot of time in message boards filled with braindead infintile know nothing 'tards.  So therefore I get damn good at calling a spade a spade and not suffering fools gladly.  Now i'm in a message board filled with intelligent, witty, literate and very well spoken people and I feel outclassed.  It's pretty awkward with the shoe on the other foot.

PS- I have no idea what a "Heisenburg effect" is.
