home audio
« on: November 11, 2009, 04:28:20 am »

i'm thinking of setting up a home audio system and i need recommendations, i'm a complete novice.

on one hand i want to be able to play music with speakers in the kitchen, dining room, and living room; i'd also like it to get along with my tv and dvd player. if i could rock out the backyard and front porch, that'd be great, but i'm not worried about that so much because i have a couple boomboxes and most of my tapes still play.

we got a lot of people here into music and such. can y'all help?

What a coincidence that the only other two people besides me on Google Wave actually have something to collaborate on!

I'm outright guffawing, here.

When you're done, though, please come back and share with the class. I want to learn, too. (We're going to wire our basement for speakers in a couple of years, when we can afford to do it right.)

does anyone have experience with small turntables? I need something, preferably, with a built-in amp/pre-amp so that I don't need to buy an amp. I'm worried about buying something too cheap, I don't want to fuck up my records.

Pssh, any real music fan only has enough money for a walkman and inhalants.

Save your money, get into golf or something.

sound quality matters less to me than sound presence. i just don't want people walking through the house and listening to the tunes to be interrupted with a transition from halfway through freefallin into a local tire sale commercial, knameen
