The "prevailing wind" line has made me picture his death featuring a golf announcer. All whispering about the wind and his stance and whatnot.

'He knows his own punchline, and it ruins the joke'. It sounds a mite cliched, but liked that line a lot nonetheless.

So, Ray has eliminated Bensington from the Syndicate AND kept his own dubious sense of personal humour intact. Well done that man.

Depsite ruining the joke, I'm suprised that Ray wasn't at all tempted to try the Deathchup himself.

Especially after Diabetes was uninvited from his Pizza Party, and the scare he had from the Magreaux dog.

Reminds me of Ray pondering whether to rescue Pat from the psychopathic banjo.

He doesn't want to abandon his friends and associates to a ghastly fate, but he wants to get full value out of rescuing them.

Consider the fact that the reversal ketchup will presumably only work to cancel out Bensington/Hockawock's knowledge of his death, not the death itself. From the way he was cowering in the corner, it seems likely that the results he got were not good; after all, if the ketchup had told him that he'd die peacefully in his bed sixty years from now, surrounded by nubile female admirers, you'd figure he'd have some swagger about him. (Remember the bit from one of the Hitchhiker's books where Zaphod walks into a device programmed to prove to you just how insignificant you are, and it actually validates his belief that he's the center of the universe? It'd be that kind of thing.) While I may be overthinking this, it seems likely that Hockawock doesn't have much time left and/or is going out gruesomely, so I suspect it won't all end so well for him in the end.
