The films of Quentin Tarantino.

Dialogue's well-written, the action well-directed but... man... the content is just a barrage of hipper-than-thou cultural references and a sexual fetishization of gun violence that spins the dial ALL the way around from serious to parody to completely-fuck*ng-creepy-serious again.

Meh.

You know what's jumped the shark?  The damn "Jump the Shark" phrase and the acidic anti-creator internet forum attitude that goes along with it.

Achewood is Peanuts, it's going to be around for decades and it's going to have distinctive moods and tones that vary as time goes on.  Did Schultz jump the shark when Charlie Brown lost the unibrow and the bitterness got replaced with longing?  Nah, shit just changed.  It's a negative thing to be ripping apart a serialized work piece by piece.

This was funny.  It fits Cornelius' character well.

As to PBF... the running characteristic about PBF is that in 3 panels a world is created and then destroyed with savage irony.  This sort of fits, but it's pretty different.  And since when is being PBF-y a bad thing?

Quoted for truth (QFT). Tiny can.

I can't think of anything else to call overrated that doesn't sound either pompous or trite, or both.

Maria Von Stutz and Leon Sumbitches represent two sides of the single great tragedy of electronic mail.  The true cost of spam can't be measured in lost productivity, nor by the simple nuisance it causes.  What spam really costs us is our innocence.

...At least, it would, if people like them ever actually existed, which they obviously don't.  Everyone knows that.  But still it lurks in the backs of people's minds: What if?  I suppose it's not unique to email, though.  Theoretically, there could always be some poor guy out there trying to run an honest shell game, but nobody will trust him.

I still have my own spam filter on training mode, but that's more a consequence of its occasionally tagging stuff I get from listservs than its potential to thwart online romance.  Either way, it solves that particular (hypothetical) problem for me.  It also makes it possible for me to pick out my favorite subject headers from the genuine spam and save them in a separate "Spam Poetry" folder before deleting the rest.  Anyone else try that?

Being right is the most over-rated thing ever.

It is not right that is overrated.

It is being right when no one else will see/accept/admit that you are right that is supremely overrated.

The cold comfort of knowing and everything is going to shit anyway because they don't listen?

Ain't comfort at all.

Sex is definitely the most overrated thing ever.

Sex, like money, only feels overrated when you can get some. When you can't get any sex it can be the most accurately rated item ever.

    • The World Is Lovely

I used to do that, but then the quality of my spam subject lines plummeted and it would have actually required some effort so it didn't seem worth it anymore. Though Gmail's clip thing did allow me to see this gem from the body of a recent c*ck-enlargement offer:

"Princesses always laughed at me and even fellows did in the federal john!"

It's a widespread problem.
