Title: The Legend of Dunston
Post by: pmcd9 on November 24, 2005, 07:20:20 am
Gather round newbies and i'll tell you a story.

In the beginning Jough created TOUAMB.  He looked upon his creation and saw that it was good.  But still there was something missing.  It was then that Jough sent JL to be our Den Mother and an era of peace and light reigned over TOUAMB.

Then one day the peace was shattered and darkness crept upon TOUAMB.  And then there appeared the evil Pedro who stole JL and took her and placed her in a cell where she was made to perform unspeakable acts.  He took her as a wife and made her bear him children and kept her locked in her cell away from TOUAMB.  She is in her cell to this very day and now darkness reigns over TOUAMB.

Every now and again someone will claim to know someone who has seen her, but that's just a legend.

We miss you Jamie.

Ah yes, with some talk of the old Dumbrella board, I was remembering JL and her wonderful mother avatar.  Then she became a mother and she no longer needed to mother all of us.  Three cheers for JL!

Sometimes being placed in a cell and being made to perform unspeakable acts is consensual.

Does the party involve women doing unspeakable acts consensually? If so, let me get in that line.

Wow, I think AW just discovered the political party that could bring utopia to North America.  A party where the Lion will lay down with the Lamb, the Lefty take the hand of the Righty.  And also fuckin'.  The political party of Fuckin'.  I'd join that party line too, and so would all of you.  Be honest.

I think that the official name of the Party should be the Party. Thus, it will be the Party Party, and those affiliated will be "Partiers."

I hereby cast my vote.   A bold vote in a bold time which calls for bold things. Some people say that this great world of ours is for nature, and some say for war; but ladies and gentlemen I am here to tell you that this awesome world with all its majesty is here basically for fuck*ng.

So I ask you, my fellow humans, to throw down your drawers, raise up your hands, say a hallelujah or two and cast your rods or what have yous towards a BOLD VOTE FOR fuck*ng!

(And when you climax, shout out Hail Brittania!, it'll give the Irish a chuckle)

We support partying hard,  we suggest partying hardy, and we particulary support the sort of partying that leads to fuck*ng.

I will spear head the "No Genitals Left Behind" program, should we be voted into power.

Also, sorry Paul.

Also, I think it will be Pedro who notices, but I give him 'til mid-December (as long as no one PM's him).

Here here! And a big huzzah to the Party Party! I must bring to the attention of the Party that we are in dire need of a mascot. The demmies have the ass the Repubes have the elephante and what do we have? Nothing...yet! I was thinking along the lines of some animals that are fuck*ng. Maybe an elephant and a donkey getting it on? Ya know to symbolize the unity that the Party stands for.

The only problem is...who's the pitchers who's the catcher?

The elephants trunk allows for a daisy chain of alternating elephants and donkeys in a circle, donkey mounting the elephant and elephant trunk under the tail of the donkey in front.

Those are going to have to be some damn big donkeys. Or very small elephants. Or maybe you could give the donkeys a stepladder?

I'm sure you meant "Just Say 'Oh, Yes!'" right?

Also, I like the Idea of an Elephant that is smallish and an Ass that is large-ish, so that they are more or less equal in size a-la- 69.  It's about equality in fuck*ng people!

Then again I really like wombats idea.  I went to a reptile garden where you could ride on the tortoises, and the tortoise I was riding on tried to mount another tortoise while I was riding on it, he got half way on her, so I got off him, and he totally just didn't care, and went right to it as I was climbing off of him.

Also, I move we go by G.O.P.P. for Gaping Orifice Party Party.

It is 11:01am EST on December 19, 2005 when Dunston checks in.

You guys are really sweet.  Like really really sweet.  I've missed you a lot.  I finally couldn't resist posting again.  I found this thread while searching for a nude political party.  I was listening to Bush speak and Pelosi rebut and I was just disgusted with what they were wearing.  I figured that a naked politician has nothing to hide.  Your Groping and Oral Partying Party was pretty close to what I was after.  And here I am!

Naturally, I'm not the one you guys really want.  The sexy, intelligent, nurturing one is currently ferrying the little one off to the baby-doctor.  He has what is described as a 'real bad cough'.  He looks really cute when he's miserable but still trying to smile and play.  I'll be sure to unlock JL's cell or at least slide a laptop between the bars so she can post herself.  It'll be like those movies where the bad guy lets the hostage say "I'm alright, daddy just please don't --"

Jamie finished her first full time semester of grad school.  I think she did kick ass, but I'm ignorant enough to be called dis-educated at this point.  She's upset because she didn't make an A+++++ (a la Ralphie) in all of her courses.  Things I learned from Jamie's studies this semester: A. I would have been obsessed with the movie Red Dawn had I seen it when I was younger.  B. There were LESBIANS in 1950's America.  No joke!  500 of them were drummed out of the Navy for it.  Lesbians!  The 50's!  What, did they get a time machine?  Amazing.
Here are some photos of the boy: http://flickr.com/photos/Pedro_Picasso (http://flickr.com/photos/Pedro_Picasso)  Some of them feature my older brother Danny, and some are from Halloween when Pearce and I dressed up as eachother.  Way cute.  Jamie was Janice Joplin, but really she was just a cute girl in hippie clothes and I was an idiot in long johns.

I dig the new board.  It look really ... busy.

So anyway, I love you guys.  Merry Christmas to you.  And if I let you talk to the lovely, talented, intelligent, and mothering jldunston, can I be in your sexy party?

Hey, anyone know if a anything similar to zabasearching exists for Canada?  I am all about creepy stalking.  I've heard rumours that my mentally-ill ex-boyfriend got married, and I'd love to know if it's true.  Also, from our relationship, I'd love to have confirmation of the fact the he likely has a criminal record.  The last time I saw him he sat a few tables away from me at a festival beer tent staring at me in a really scary way that I tried to ignore.

Oh, man, don't I know it. You think you're just going to use it to depressurize, and before you know it you're all like "man, this Fortress of Solitude is great! The only thing it lacks is human companionship, and if I need humans, well, that's what I have the T1 for! Ahahahaha!!" and then soon you're fake-coughing into your cell phone to get out of work and it's all over. Let us not raise the terrible spectre of raids.

Ok, Zabasearch is creepy. BUT my wife has gotten ahold of some old friends using it...wouldn't you like to get/give a phone call from/to an old friend? The phone call is the key interaction, not the actual zabasearching.

The other thing is Austin (no relation to Delfim Sousa, I assume) is probably not going to know who the hell V-Adore is, I'm guessing. Throw him a bone with a first name or something if you're going to keep the google-dream alive.

On the Dumbrella Boards a couple of years (and two boards) ago they had a thread in the Super-Mega Party of Fun where they created their own commune membership. That quote is from an image someone put together of the d-boards logo with that saying replacing the usual text when they were wondering how it would all end. In context, it was one of the funniest things ever, and I thought it was fitting to whip the quote out for the board change here.

Does that jog the memory, or am I quoting something only Ferocious J would get?

Space after quote, Space after quote!
/edit

Thank you. I remember the gazebo being on fire was absolutely painfully hilarious at the time but could not for the life of me remember what it was from.

Space after quote is seriously fuck*ng me up on this board too.

Good question, I kinda would like to hear from all of them (though I know where to find FJ), 'specially Nabu. I had an addy for him but it doesn't seem right to pursue it to that extent.

Oh, why not?  Send Nabu holiday greetings from all of us and say we miss him.  What could possibly be objectionable about that?

As for FJ, yeah, we could all go post a lot of comments on his livejournal or whatever it is.  Snub us, huh?  We'll show him.

I like that you CAN put a quote right up against the next non-quoted line, should you want to.

HOWEVER, I could easily add "margin-bottom:1em;" to the CSS file, which would add a line beneath the quote.

Howevermore, I tend to space things out visually using the HTML form and would have HUGE spaces under each quote, then, or else have to have the text smack up against the quote while I'm writing it.

Either way, someone is inconvenienced.

I don't actually mind it this way, and I do agree that it's better for everyone to leave it poster-side (and thus give people the option to post how they'd like) than hard-code anything. Really, this doesn't matter that much; it's just one of the little differences I've noticed since board changeover.

On the old board the majority of people ended up having unecessary extra spaces because they didn't realize that the forum "helpfully" added one for you. So I think it makes more sense on the new board to inconvenience the like 3 of us who were used to typing our quotes "tight"

Man, do I love you guys.

From "JL WHERE ARE YOU?" to rampant sex and politics, with a brief jaunt through internet stalking techniques and a brief debate on the pros and cons of the new CSS backbone -- you guys are so predictably random that I could just kiss each and every one of you on your chubby little pink cheeks.

To all the oldbies, I've missed you terribly.  To all the newbies, welcome, and yes, Virginia (hi Va!), there is a Den Mother.  I like what you've done to the place -- all spruced up and with all these new shiny buttons above the friendly little text box here...I hope Jough hasn't been too rough with you while I've been away, so if anybody needs a Care Bears band-aid just let me know and I'll fix you right up.

Like Pedro told you, I've been hugely busy, less with the small one and more so with the schoolwork.  I ended up getting an A- and a B+ this past semester, it kicked my ass but all things considered I like to think I've returned the favor.  I've got two more classes in the spring and one in the fall, and then it's off to Thesis-land for me.  The child is perfectly wonderful, and often infuriating -- he's developed this annoying habit of grinding his teeth -- now that he finally has enough to grind (exactly four) -- and it makes me absolutely insane.  He's not quite walking, but it could happen any day.  (He actually took two steps on Christmas and two more on New Year's Eve but he's not really doing it on purpose yet so I'm not sure if it counts or not.)

Speaking of which -- he's awake.  I will be back soon -- but 'til then -- thanks for remembering...

Wow. It's like... seeing the Sasquatch. Except that it's the nicest sasquatch in the world.

Peace and good luck, JL, wherever your travels may take you.

Thanks...I guess?

The child is down for his nap, and I of course came rushing straight to your arms...but after such a long absence, I don't know where to begin catching up.  What's been going on around here?  What threads do I need to read so as not to post comments that cause you to glance sideways at one another and silently think ill of my manners?  What running gags am I not going to get when I encounter them, as I no doubt will?  Who are all these new people, and what redeeming qualities render them worthy of access to our little sandbox?  (I know y'all haven't gotten so slack that you've stopped brutally hazing new members, right?)

In other words...where do I go from here?

Oh yes.  When I read that I thought, "I hope someone says that about me someday" and totally gave up trying to think of something to post to express my sentiments.

So hey, just be yourself.  The nice sasquatch can do no wrong... and who'd have the nerve to say something if she did?

Just show up once in awhile and don't worry about it.

Man, don't worry about it. Once one of us, always one of us. (We're sorta like circus freaks in that regard.) Just show up and post; don't worry about the zeitgeist. I sure don't!

JL - we now have a quantitative marker for the worth of a noob in the guise of a Tiny Can of Dr Pepper, the smallest unit of liking or disliking someone.

Some of the noobs have become "regulars" fairly quickly.

Some of the other regulars have fallen off the face of the earth.  It happens.

Otherwise, we'll be adding a few new moderators soon, and basically hyping up the place.  I think the membership has grown at a very nice and sustainable level, and the new board software is working out nicely I think.

Otherwise, kick back and enjoy.  Read anything or nothing.  Post whatever and whenever you feel.  We're always happy to have you here, and promise to only mock you to your fac.

And this is another fine compliment if I do say so.

Whatever you decide to post about will automatically become the hot topic.  That's as it should be.  Welcome home Den Mother.

I did my best to get back on the board under my old moniker, but it did not work.  So now I'm Evil Limmo, Limmo's counterpart from the Mirror Universe.

Hi, everyone. Happy New Year.

Limmo!

Limmo gets a Tiny Can for turning his problem registering into an opportunity to make a reference that newbies will not get.  Incidentally - what's the opposite of newbies?  Oldbies?

No, but dig on my kicky new midriff-baring outfit (http://www.memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Image:Mirror_Universe_Sulu_and_Uhura_2268.jpg)!

Oh, and I think the opposite of "newbie" should be "old French whore."

Alright, Evil Limmo is dead, for technical reasons.  Long live Evil Limmo.

I'll be back as Limmo for the foreseeable whatever.
