Congrats on being the Jon Davis of our times. It is like listening to Pat criticize something, except it's Instant Pat Brand, with too much water used.
-
Ahhhh.. I was kind of annoyed by the really weak opinions and loosely informed decisions, and then Kurtz comes in. Perhaps if you've read a random selection of 15 strips, you would be bewildered, but there definitely are extremely accessible parts even when taken individually. So in essence, there is an extreme paucity of effort here to actually read the strip before striking down judgment.
"Have you read any in order?"
"No, he's making me work way too hard to read it."
I do not know much about cars. Would I set up a podcast to review cars? No, I would not. I do not understand why this mp3 exists. If you just do not feel a strip, then just don't read it! Ridiculous.
edit: hahah, they are complaining that there are sometimes too many panels in a strip? Wow.
edit2: "pause" "kiss my ass, bitch! I'll be at duane's!" "slap" I am actually kind of enjoying this now, especially the use of excellent strips to try to make their points, and then fail because the strip is good.
edit3: "I like your comic, because it's good to look at, and I don't have to think too fuckin' much."
-
This is the first time I've heard Achewood be discussed by human voices. Unfortunately, listening to most these dudes' voices is like torture.
-
3 minutes to open? Fuck that guy. He's making me work way too hard to listen to him.
-
How about a short recap for those of us who are impatient.
They're basically saying that Achewood is incomprehensible and for people who like to make themselves look smart by saying they get it. One of the guys had read most of the archives and still didn't get it, Scott Kurtz hadn't read most of it and hated it, and one female cartoonist ranted against it for hours, really vitrolically - she was the one who used the "Kiss my ass, bitch, I'll be at Duane's!" example. One of the moderators was trying to defend it.
Scott Kurtz didn't piss me off. No one really did, except for the female cartoonist, who was really, really vitrolic and ill-informed. I thought they were valid criticisms - especially from the moderater who had read most of the archives. I mean, it's not a comic for everyone. It is kind of esoteric, and it is really bizarre, and it is just one of those "get it or you don't." And it also is literate, and something you have to work to read. And some people just don't want to work that hard to read comic strips. And maybe that's valid. They're just coming from a different perspective.
I actually kind of like PVP. Not love it but - he is like Jon Davis. You know how Garfield is funny, once every blue moon or something? PVP's kind of like that.
-
Man the way this Kurtz fella talks sounds like a bad Owen Wilson impersonation.
-
I liike to open Achewood and yell at the monitor "make with the funny!"
-
I have known that Scott Kurtz is a dick, ever since I read a message board discussion with him and Frank Cho, where they both claimed that every person making mini-comics is a pretense-laden douche just trying to crack into the mainstream by being falsely "intensely personal".
Uh, no. Some mini-comics might be like that?
But, man, it's like they had no fuckin' idea that some people might be making mini-comics at Kinkos KNOWING that what they were doing wasn't about trying to be the next writer on Iron Man or havin' a strip in the Palookaville Picayune. That most people who do small press understand it's not a business exercise, it's a form of shared personal expression that will at best break even.
We're not all... Frank Cho and Scott Kurtz, cynically trying to "break into the big bucks"... some of us are just people trying to tell the stories we've got inside us in a potentially very democratic medium. That goes double for internet comics, y'know?
It's not ABOUT trying to speak to everyone in the world and it's not ABOUT necessarily being the most polished artists... it's about saying something and maybe a couple of hundred people hearing ya.
PvP is so fuckin' by-the-numbers cynical in its attempts to pander to the cliche of an internet user and yet completely still being fuckin' Garfield. FUCK PVP. FUCK SCOTT KURTZ.
As for Frank Cho, dude is a great great artist who should not be allowed to write his own material or talk at conventions. Stick to the pretty ladies, Cho, we don't need to hear your reductivist theories on comics and/or your bad-Bloom-County-ripoff-by-way-of-a-soap-opera personal side project. FUCK FRANK CHO.
It is "Fuck Successful People In Creative Fields Who Hate People Just Trying To Say Something Because Their Machiavellian Pursuit of Success Was So White-Hot That They Never Actually Made Anything Entertaining And Can't Fathom Other People Actually Doing It For Some Other Reason Than As A Get-Rich-Slow Scheme Tuesday".
Pass it on.
-
I kind of wanted to kill myself after listening to that. I mean, for Christ's sake, I like Achewood. I don't enjoy feeling superior to people. I am not some dude in a black turtleneck who totally made out with Derrida. I just enjoy things that are funny, you know?
Sheesh.
P.S. I love whoever decided Fouc*ult was a swear word.
-
I actually kind of like Liberty Meadows. They should go to one of Ray's parties. Truman and Philippe could have their own little imaginary party. Lyle and Dean could do things I'd rather not think about.
-
I quite liked early Liberty Meadows.
Over its development, it basically became a lame serial melodrama about the artist's fictional stand-in trying to fuck an impossibly attractive woman while being persued and tempted by other impossibly attractive women. Which interests me in no way.
Kurtz is projecting his own sense of superiority onto other people and hating them for it.
Also: I am now a huge supporter of a Fouc*ult Friday.
-
Fouc*ult Friday => canned.
-
I can't believe this filter slipped my notice. While the the filter on Bozack is apparently gone now. Craziness!
-
I tried to read Liberty Meadows, but it's like reading a really well drawn copy of Bloom County / Calvin and Hobbes /
Some Other Strip's Art That I Don't Recognize Yet POGO.
Sorry, I just can't stand strips that crib like that. I'll just go put on my black turtleneck and pick out an ipod, last one to the coffeehouse is a pretentious fuck.
-
Worse yet, Frank Cho can't even be original in his fetish for giant women. Crumb's been doing that forever. Is there an original molecule in that man's body?
I'm surprised he hasn't rolled in his own version of Garfield / Cathy machine-generated strips or some B.C.-style right wing evangelizing just to cover all the bases.
-
one of my friends here had a dream once that his dad, who is a Lawyer, got in a really serious car accident.
he goes to the hospital, and he says "Zach, there's something I've never told you. And I'm going to tell you now, because it's important. I draw and write Garfield. Jim Davis died in the mid-90's, and I've been creating the Garfield strip every day, ever since. And now, I need you to do it." He couldn't bear to tell his dad how much he hates Garfield, how much everyone hates Garfield... so he had to try to do it.
Then he woke up.
He also dreamt once that the Notorious B.I.G. came back to life, and that he had to protect him from the gang members trying to kill him.
At the end of that dream, Biggie got shot in slow motion. And exploded into rainbows.
Also: I can't get the audio on that site to load, but... based on the comments on the blog, fuck that guy. And fuck the "Brandon" guy, who had a long argument that went like this.
"No, seriously, can anyone explain to me why it's funny?"
"Because it's absurd, and surrealist, and (gives examples)"
"no, see, that isn't absurd. Absurd would be...
A tangential absurdity would have been an end line of “Philippe is made of macaroni.” Situational absurdity would be “Philippe folded it into a schooner and is sailing to Mexico.” Even a simple absurdity would be him saying “Philippe is standing on it” and show Philippe NOT standing on it.
So, see, why is it funny?"
Why does it make people mad when other people like something that they don't?
PS this doesn't count for things that I like or don't like. only what I like is good. I reserve the right, as a human being, to continue believing this.
-
Why does it make people mad when other people like something that they don't?
Jealousy.
-
People like Kurtz are threatened by successful entertainment product that does not fall into their tightly-constrained models of What The Rubes Will Ingest. This is what happens to people who view comedy as an equation and view entertainment strictly as a way of making money and getting famous.
I've been a Hollywood cog for a while now. I can say these things with some authority.
Kurtzes are threatened by creativity, fearing that they will be overtaken by these less formulaic products, fearing that someone has discovered a more successful formula that they don't understand, fearing that their formula will go out of style because of it.
But there's more to it than that.
Kurtzes also wish deep deep deep down that they COULD be actual artists or... actual entertainers and... have credibility. They CRAVE a way wherein they could be "edgy" and also still never deviate from their formula that pays the bills... but they wanna pay the bills more.
So they HATE it when there are motherfuckers running around getting credit for being edgy AND paying the bills. They operate as though you get one or the other but... holy shit, when someone does both, it drives them up the goddamn wall.
Scott Kurtz would be a very average mid-level executive at a movie studio.
This is my way of saying that he is a crap dude.
-
I wish there was a transcript of this thing. There are enough gems of stupidity throughout that debate to be quoted for weeks. But I can't be bothered to type it down.
-
good lord. I don't understand what these people are even talking about.
I mean... I don't "work hard" to understand achewood. I just read it, and laugh, and then go on to the next strip. Even the guy who likes it says you have to put a lot of effort into it. Which just... I don't really understand what he's even saying. these are not english words that he is using.
PS:
one guy: "I mean, the art certainly isn't anything to write home about."
kurtz, who draws fuck*ng PVP: "well, I mean... I don't want to give him a hard time about that, like..."
-
Some people need to learn how to just say "No thanks, I don't care for it" and move on.
-
Yeah. If only every webcomic could be just like PvP, Penny Arcade, ad nauseum.
I JUST CANNOT GET ENOUGH OF JOKES ABOUT VIDEOGAMES AND RPGS.
-
Penny Arcade doesn't deserve to be compared to PVP.
Awhile ago, in a thread, I said that Penny Arcade fell off but I take that back now, it's been pretty good and the next gen consoles made it relevant again.
-
Who is scott kurtz and what does he have to do with achewood?
-
Who is scott kurtz and what does he have to do with achewood?
Scott Kurtz is the author/illustrator of PVP, one of the most successful webcomics being produced today. He made some nasty comments about Achewood on a podcast for Digital Strips, a blog/podcast/review of webcomics. See the first post in this thread for more information.
-
no, the other guys started talking about how they don't like the art, and he was all "oh, no, come on guys, lets not..."
also, he keeps saying that Achewood breaks the "rules" of comics. He didn't really give any examples of this.
-
Right, so I enjoyed hearing about Achewood from another perspective, and while their arguments were a little flawed in places the reasons these people gave for disliking Achewood seemed perfectly.. well, reasonable, mostly.
But is there anything more irritating, condescending and pathetic in the world than trying to win an argument by saying that the only reason people who don't share your opinion like something is because they think it makes them cool? Seriously, it reeks of something unpleasant. Scott Kurtz and co., an industrial strength fuck you. May your condoms split and your eczema get raunchy.
-
These guys are boring the hell out of me. I am pretty ignorant to the whole webcomic universe and if its filled with people like this then I'm going to remain ignorant of it all. I didn't know there were people out there who thought so hard about comics or who formulated such negative opinions of achewood. Basically they don't get it. At all.
Fuck this guy.
-
I don't get the art bitch. I like too many comics that don't make any attempt at really solid art. I mean, some of them I could put together, because they are templates or clip art or whatever. GYWO is consistently very funny, and what the hell is it? Fuck, we aren't talking about Little Nemo here.
-
I don't get the art bitch.
Yeah, me neither. I mean, Achewood's art is typically simplistic, but it's distinctive, and it has serious moments of brilliance. But it's not like it's substandard.
-
Backing up a bit: I have always wanted to give Frank Cho a chance, as various friends of mine love his work, but I am deeply unnerved by the "male characters are all extremely cartoony and/or talking animals, female characters are realistically rendered and very hot" style. I mean, dude, just admit you can't give two shits about drawing the human figure unless you want to fuck it and move on.
-
again: judy, you've grown so fast.
"huh. whatever, fag."
-
I JUST CANNOT GET ENOUGH OF JOKES ABOUT VIDEOGAMES AND RPGS.
Well said, Person Who May Have Only Registered Just To Say That.
This is a lot of what I mean with a comic like PvP.
"Nerds are on the internet, so I will make a comic strip about... things I think nerds like!'
Blah. fuck*ng blah, man.
-
"Nerds are on the internet, so I will make a comic strip about... things I think nerds like!'
Totally agreed and what's sad is, that seems to suddenly propel them to stardom and inexplicably make their authors think like this asshole. The fact that a comic like Achewood can survive in this pit of topical vapidity is an even bigger testament to how creative and highly excellent it is. I mean, look at fuck*ng SPRITE COMICS
EDIT: oh god "Félipé". What's wrong with these people. Is it that hard to understand weird entertainment? What do these people have to say about fuck*ng Adult Swim shows? Those things seem to be pretty fuck*ng popular these days, and those make no sense. What do they think of those?
-
The only thing that could make this better would be if we can provoke Sean Howard to flaming-death-spiral his way through a five page bipolar pat-rant on the general subject / miscreants involved.
I may have to bribe him into doing this, with my precious crime-dollars.
-
I'm sorry I listened to this, but... "I don't like Felipe <sic> because he's way too innocent. But I liked him when he got bad, when he got possessed by Billy Joel."
Billy Joel.
This stupid asshole confused Billy Joel for Billy Idol.
-
Is this a regular thing, this podcast or whatever it was? I can't imagine a talk show that dedicates (what seemed like) 2 hours to talking about a single anything much less a webcomic. Maybe a whole show about all webcomics, but the whole damn thing just about Achewood. The only purpose I can glean from all of that is it is a forum for lesser cartoonist to dump on their superiors.
Is this what all podcast are like, inarticulate assholes spouting ill informed opinions?
-
Oh God.
I just heard Scott Kurtz's whiney, nasally voice rape my eardrums.
I like how Kurtz's highest example of art defying convention is The Matrix.
Yeah. Sorry, bro. You are too dumb to "get" Achewood.
-
Is this what all podcast are like, inarticulate assholes spouting ill informed opinions?
Yeah...but the statement would also be true if you replaced "podcast" with "internet".
-
Dear Chris Onstad,
(http://www.cthb.org/pics/sdcc05/kurtz.jpg) doesn't think you're funny.
I hope you can handle the trauma.
Sincerely,
mczapp
-
wow.

let me ask you something: what is making sense?

That's a good size fellow. I like how he has surrounded himself with pictures of women that don't look like real humans. That's cool.

OH NOES!@X%$#@ Some Yap on the Internet doesn't like what I like! PANIC!!!
Who the hell cares whether a bunch of philistines don't get it? Just because you have the audacity to publish your opinion doesn't mean that your opinion is worthy of notice.

"Nerds are on the internet, so I will make a comic strip about... things I think nerds like!'
Blah. fuck*ng blah, man.
See, this is what I think the fundamental difference is between PvP and Penny Arcade: PA is a comic about video games, but it's done by guys who are actually in and have immense respect for the video-game subculture. You get the impression that, if these guys had a slightly different hobby set, they would instead be drawing a comic strip about stamp collecting or decoupage. They are the Real Goddamn Thing, and they do everything in their power to make their subculture a better place. PvP, on the other hand, has always struck me as tapping the "make a comic nerds will like without actually liking or understanding nerds" sellout archetype.

Congrats on being the Jon Davis of our times. It is like listening to Pat criticize something, except it's Instant Pat Brand, with too much water used.
It's Jim Davis. Jon Davis is the equally talented lead singet of KoRn.
If these people can't understand why a cat turning into a white trash man and slapping his friend who is a bear after drinking mystery whiskey is funny or would be funny to someone else, they have problems that cannot be addressed within the scope of an hour-long podcast. There's no deeper meaning and no one is pretending that there is. It's funny because it's funny.

I have never used these words before, but:

you had me at "mystery whiskey"

"I'm not going to act like I completely understand it. I get it on enough of a level to enjoy it."
I don't think it takes patience to read Achewood, or even that much intelligence to "get" it. I don't understand why they think it's so abstract, random, and difficult.
It's true that sometimes Achewood doesn't have a punchline. It's more like real life where funny things happen and also tragic things happen.
But there's nothing random or Dadaist about it. And even if somebody doesn't like it and doesn't find it funny, I've never had somebody tell me that they thought it was going over their head. I've never heard so many times in a row that Achewood "doesn't make sense." Of course it makes sense, within the scope of its world.
[PvP has a troll in it, for no reason whatsoever, plus some other mythological creatures. Does that make sense? In the context of PvP, yeah, it makes sense. It's also way more random than Achewood.]
I didn't even know people like this existed, people who can't even make connections or notice patterns that are extremely evident. Especially repeated themes/storylines. Like the "Ray gets an idea/invents something" storyline, which we're just starting up again.
-
I'm convinced that a fair portion of the Internet is now using "random" as a synonym for "something that I don't understand." Applying it to Achewood, one of the most thoroughly considered superstructures of characterization and setting in the history of webcomics, seems bafflingly inappropriate in any other context.
-
We've gotten to a point where a lot of people think a joke consists of "Hey! Kool-Aid Man! I remember Kool-Aid Man! I remember him and that is funny that I remember! Mr. T is riding him! I remember Mr. T! This is funny times funny as funny squared!"
Pretty much, Seth MacFarlane is the devil and all these motherfuckers are his demons.
-
"Hey! Kool-Aid Man! I remember Kool-Aid Man! I remember him and that is funny that I remember! Mr. T is riding him! I remember Mr. T! This is funny times funny as funny squared!"
What was that thing on South Park....manatee joke? God, that was hilarious. I love South Park.
-
Wait, what's not pleasing about the Achewood font? It's attractively designed, distinct in look without being distracting to read, and it fits the look and tone of the strip; is it automatically pretentious because it's not Comic Sans or another godawful sans-serif wackyfest?
(Hello, choir. Thank you for coming to the sermon today...)
-
What was that thing on South Park....manatee joke? God, that was hilarious. I love South Park.
On the most recent DVD set they actually cop to the manatee thing. There's a really awkward set-up for the "this is even worse than the time" cut-away and they refer to it as a manatee joke.
-
It seems the enormous nasal man doesnt like 'working too hard'.
Imagine that.
-
Well that was weird. 90% of the podcast was guys (and a gal) whingeing angrily about achewood's awful (and huge*) hipster fake readership.
Yeah, I actually wasn't all that aware we were hip. QC is hip (or about hipster music, at least). We're weirdos; the paste-eaters and computer programmers of webcomic fans.
-

Achewood is the only webcomic I like. I've looked at others and tried to get into them and it just didn't happen. This is also the only message board I've ever liked... so Hi, My name is Chris and I'm a pasteater weirdo.

How can a strip where the readers' POV character is Roast Beef be for hipsters?
I mean, for fuck's sake, he has the depression.
He is not a ninja with a bunch of hot women constantly courting him through wacky adventures.
He is not a comic strip artist with a bunch of hot women constantly courting him through wacky adventures.
He is not a role-playing-character or a magazine editor or any other geek-glamourous occupation with a bunch of hot women constantly courting him through wacky adventures.
The audience is Beef. Beef is the audience. He has too much sense than to get out of bed. He is in a co-dependent relationship with a ghost-cat-lady. The only reason he has anything material is the absent-minded whims of his four-times-blessed friend from small times. He was born with undifferentiated gender and a girl's name. He is Roast Beef and he has the depression.
WE are Roast Beef and WE have the depression! (Imagine such as in Fight Club after Mr. Loaf dies.)
We are Roast Beef, we have the depression and that is the exact opposite of being a hipster.

Hm?
I'm... writing on a message board, man. I am typing and then quickly hitting the "post" button because I am writing from work and doing work-type things as I jump on and off of this board and the internet in general. If I was writing for something professional, I would definitely be editing more thoroughly. Also, if this were professional, I'd be getting paid.
My point is that you and I are brothers, Nabu, in our non-hipster beefness.
EDIT: You too, Judy. Me, you, your other personality, Nabu, everyone, even the ladies here, we are all brothers in beefness.
EDIT X 2: It seems Judy's reply has been erased. Still, both of him are definitely brothers in beef.

I want to know what you do for a living, LFM, aside from vaguely being in the entertainment business, that you have so much time to post on a messageboard at work. I may be looking to change careers again and I know I don't want Nabu's job where I have to go to a cold dark place for months on end.
-
me too. I am trying a thing lately where... sometimes I type up a big ol' reply, and then I read over it. And then I delete it. Because 90% of the time, my responses are "oh man, that reminds me of (something that isn't really related)"

Dude, are we the same person?
-
I'm... I'm pretty sure that I'm me, and you're you. Do you get that feeling too?
...maybe if we both feel the same way, then it means we are the same person? That makes it confusing.

I do that constantly. That's why I end up lurking so much and yet posting so little.
-
I tend to wander off, and then come back and vomit all over the boards for a bit, and then when I am full of shame I leave again. See, this is where the editor would help me.

womb@, that is a very long and complicated story.
Suffice it to say that... part of the time, I am an office production assistant for a fairly well-established director where part of my job is to tend to some online things where I can type in the other tab and... part of the time, I was an assistant to a rich dude trying to make a movie about himself and... that job has kind of petered out and I'm trying to figure out a replacement.
And I type really fuck*ng fast. This is also part of it.
To explain the whole karmatornado of "How Littlefallsmets pays the rent" would involve a story long winded for even for me and maybe if I get three hours I will PM you this complicated tale of joy and woe.

Now, see, I wanna know what these people think of Jerkcity. That's definitely an example of a strip where you laugh because it's just supremely bizarre.
Also, I bet Kurtz is the kind of guy who is medically required to use a trackball.

Good call.
-
let me ask you something: what is making sense?
Heh, thats how far I made it into the podcast before I had to stop. What a bunch of pretentious douchebags.
And anyway, balls on a cellphone are funny.
"Solo, by ChatSack with Carl Lagerfeld" is the only signed strip I own. Nuts on a phone; that is goddamn Genius. The best thing you can hope to happen in a PvP strip is that one of the characters may be mauled by a panda.
Yeah, I actually wasn't all that aware we were hip. QC is hip (or about hipster music, at least). We're weirdos; the paste-eaters and computer programmers of webcomic fans.
Its so much hipper to not like achewood; thats why these guys are so down on it. Listen to all the long pauses while they try to think of the reasons they aren't fans.
-
So, after mulling it... I haven't even bothered to listen to the podcast. No need. I've read the rants on PVP. The dudes a blowhard at best.
I used to read PVP, and I've read all of the Achewoods out there... there's a pair of panels that keep coming back to me. Beef, sitting on the couch, thinking about cashews. (http://www.achewood.com/index.php?date=03132007)
Beef is more expressive, and Onstad understands more about how some of us live and think in those two panels, than anything I've read in PVP.
Not to make this a great big case of "Us v. Them" but really...
-
Wow, I got through about two minutes of this before I had to close it. This show has an audience?

That audience was us. ohhhhh shiiiiiit

I'm... writing on a message board, man. I am typing and then quickly hitting the "post" button because I am writing from work and doing work-type things as I jump on and off of this board and the internet in general. If I was writing for something professional, I would definitely be editing more thoroughly. Also, if this were professional, I'd be getting paid.
You keep letting Nabu bust your balls he's gonna think you are his bitch.
-
To explain the whole karmatornado of "How Littlefallsmets pays the rent" would involve a story long winded for even for me and maybe if I get three hours I will PM you this complicated tale of joy and woe.
I'm guessing Gay Porn. You're Ron aren't you?
-
Applying it to Achewood, one of the most thoroughly considered superstructures of characterization and setting in the history of webcomics, seems bafflingly inappropriate in any other context.
It's nothing less than this. I mean, my God, the blogs should be proof enough that there is something going on in Achewood, and the different voices/mannerisms/attitudes of the characters would only confirm that it is pretty solid. How can a born English speaker not like Beef's or Ray's writing/speaking style, or the bizarre ways in which English is mangled by some other characters is a mistery to me... Also, Onstad might not be a proper illustrator, but he manages to be funny precisely because of that: That cow that resembled everything else but a cow; Vlad is a ##### with leather shoes and an occasional Taxi Driver haircut. "A cookie with two shits inside". C'mon.
-
Actually, the more I think about it, the more it looks like a textbook case of sour grapes. I mean, the Achewood universe is huge, way more than whatever it is that PvP comics have (I never read them, but I'm guessing it's a strip and 1 blog - with the blog being written in authorial voice, not in character, which means no work. Work hard for your fuck*ng buck, PvP.
-
I'm wondering if this animus can all be traced back to that achewood pisstake strip where the rubbish 'web cartoon' characters appeared at Ray's door. All 'shmexy' fox ladies, hipster internet artists, and portentious elfs.
That strip (http://achewood.com/index.php?date=01172005) has made me immune to just about every other webcomic now. Occasionally, a friend of mine will tell me to read some webcomic, and I'll just read a few strips, think "Your activities are so poorly conveyed" and then go do something else. It is a great timesaver.
-
I'm tempted to make a Liberty Meadows project where I correlate each strip with the Bloom County strip it is "paying homage to".
-
I have learned from the fact that Achewood has had a large influence on my speaking voice that...
not everyone finds purposely awkward syntax appealing.
also: my favorite compliment ever:
"daniel... you speak English like it's your second language."

hell of such as truth
-
Is it atypical to have used awkward syntax before reading Achewood, and loved it for its mastery of said awkwardness?
-
I have at times heard Mr. Kurz fits the description of "fat fuck"
-
Only one thing is certain, after having listened to that "webcast" (Is that the word of the times?)
These people deserve to die. No one is allowed to speak about webcomics with this seriousness of intent and for so long, and to expect others to also give a shit
Also, Mr. Kurz is probably responsible for the famines in Africa
-
I have at times heard Mr. Kurz fits the description of "fat fuck"
He actually more fits the description of "meatscape."
seriously, the guy walks in front of you and suddenly there is flab just stretching out for miles and miles
-
C'mon guys don't hate him because he's fat. That's a cheap shot. There are plenty of legitimate reason to hate him.

well, apart from being an entity properly measured by its gross tonnage, and being a pathetic little bitch for hating on Achewood, I really can't see another reason to hate the fat fuck. Also, being a fat motherfucker is a perfectly good reason to be hated. You must be one of the porkbeasts yourself or you would agree, fatty
PvP is actually a pretty good strip
Currently, my webcomic rankings go
OOtS
Achewood=Overcompensating=Rob&Elliot (never updates)
8bit Theatre
PvP=PA

I feel the same way about Ann Coulter.
There are so many reasons to hate her. The left media seems to lock in on her goiter with hell of such as a steel resolve.
How about ... oh, I don't know ... she's a bat-shit-crazy racist?
Nope. She looks like a dude.
-
She IS a dude, dude.
Whereas Kurtz and his strip are both about as edgy as cream cheese.
-
Also, being a fat motherfucker is a perfectly good reason to be hated. You must be one of the porkbeasts yourself or you would agree, fatty
Man, you've just given me a perfect reason to make this a Fuck You Friday.
Fuck you, dude. Fuck you.
-
People, does everything have to turn into an argument around here these days?
Let's spend less time on the personal attacks on dudes of gravity and members of the armed forces and more time on obsessing about the cartoon cats, OK?
-
I wish I was a dude of gravity so I could pile onto the MrChee hatefest.
Actually, my BMI does put me in the "overweight" category!
**thud**
-
it's probably not nice to get the achewood-loving dudes of gravity riled up in here especially when I am so inherently small and twiggy and breakable
let's all live in people-like-me-not-crushed harmony please and only use this information to show that just like most comics Kurtz draws himself as he sees himself and not as other people do and, through the comic being full of hot-looking women, finally decide he is pathetic. NOT JUST BECAUSE FAT.
Although the women could be idealized projections of similarly outfitted real-life women that Kurtz is not allowed on elevators with
-
I have at times heard Mr. Kurz fits the description of "fat fuck"
I was going to suggest that the thread be renamed to "Scott Kurtz is a fat fuck" to be more accurate. Then I realized that it might anger other fatties, and that in turn would bring out the fat-haters, and then we would get into a blubber-slapping battle of the body-masses.
Guys, just get on a treadmill. It does wonders.
-
Yeah, what colour are his eyes? 'Cause I hate him and everyone with whatever colour of eyes he has too. What the fuck is wrong with you people of whatever eye colour he has? Get some coloured contacts fuck wads!
Come on people. Have some dignity.
-
Hah! You grotesquely obese mammoths are
eating right out of playing right into my hand. Pile it on lardos, like its feed time at the trough.

Look, you don't make fun of my paunch and I won't make fun of your miniscule c*ck.

Come on people. Have some dignity.

That shitty Red Hot Chili Peppers song is going through my head again. What the fuck is going on around here? Fuck this shit.

But you can do this yourself now, Ash!
