I love these color strips and their surreal vibe ... even if the topic is kind of perverse. I mean, a stuffed bear beating off to 70s LP covers? yikes.

I deeply identify with... looking for that one perfect thought that makes it all fit together.

I been chasing that hoss since the day I understood it was a hoss that one could chase.

Apicture of a busty naked African-American lady masturbating isn't that one perfect thought for me, sadly... I would be a much happier sort of dude if it were but... I am definitely still gunning for my answer.

2008 == the technicolor Achewood year.

Interesting.  At some point in time and space I can identify how Quadrophenia and Abraxas could be placed at opposite ends of the rock spectrum.

Yet they're both great.  Go figure.

Jesus fuck*ng Christ, this makes me sad. But in the good way, you know? The kind of way that tells you, "At least I care". It feels good to know that you care.

Quadrophenia?  Is there some radically different printing with nude ladies all over it?  'Cause mine looks more like this (http://www.thewho.net/linernotes/Quad.htm).

The color continues. Hurrah. However, I never noticed the nekkid lady because my dad's copy of Abraxax was all scuffed and crappy (the sleeve, that is. Fortunately the record itself was in great condition).

The specific content of this strip has no personal resonance for me. But God knows I also wait for that one perfect email that solves all my problems and closes the laptop of my mind.

Recently I downloaded a song from eMusic. The tiny cover image there clearly has a naked lady. When I put the song into iTunes and it fetched the larger cover art, suddenly she was all blurred out. What the hell, iTunes? Do you blur all naked covers or just ones with bush?

I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop.  I don't really think he's done a comic with this feel since the last time Beef floated down the river.

I really dig the color, no matter how cribbed it is from Ware.  Great artists steal and all that.

Double-checking, and... Yes.  Surfer Rosa still has her nipples.

I remember my parents having an album covered in a picture of a topless redhead holding a phallic silver airplane.  I cannot recall the name of the artist/album.

This tells you everything you need to know about the priorities of my life from age 10 through, uh, now.

Blind Faith, self-titled album.

Its the sort of thing that sticks with you as you're flipping through the albums at the record store on your way to Blind Melon or something.

Yeah that was definitely in my dad's collection.  I listened to it, and it didn't sound anything like the other music my dad likes.

It's funny looking back on the time when Rock and Roll was treated as something Serious, and not just a bit tongue-in-cheek pop art experiment.

Ok, maybe not Rick Gretch...

Does this mini-arc basically confirm that Teodor is Onstad's alter ego? I mean, if it needed confirming.

To the horror (no doubt) of many an afficianado of quality blues-rock, everything I know about Steve Winwood can be summed up in three words...'Roll With it'.

My parents had "Whipped Creme and Other Delights."  Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass.

I could never figure out why they would have had an album with such a dirty picture on the front.

I am nostalgic for old record cover art, but I am more nostalgic for the non-plastic surgerized boobs themselves.  Remember that?  Remember when boobs in entertainment were like, real boobs?  Now all entertainment boobs are the same set of boobs on different faces.  There was something so much more salacious/hot/dirty about seeing a boob back then - you never knew what you were going to see, you know?  It was always a nice surprise.  Now a days it's the same perfect globes, symmetrical, centered nipple and smallish areola - there's no surprise.  That's what you get.  If a lady is exposing her boobs in entertainment now you are getting the same boob everytime because they've all been purchased.  What happened to little cute perky tits?  Where are the slightly-floppy-in-a-sexy way tits?   The they're-sort-of-ugly-but-she's-clearly-proud-of-em-to-be-showing-em-off-like-that-and-that-makes-em-hot tits?

This is an open message to real tits: We'd like to see you.  We miss you.  Wherever you are, please come home.

While "Blind Faith" is a great great album, I don't know if that particular lady counts as a hot album cover naked lady. She's... scrawny and weird-lookin' and... ambiguously jail-baity. I guess that was the British style at the time but it always kinda freaked me out.

She looks, like, fifteen.

Wikipedia says that that girl is either 14 or 11, but also that may not be true.

Also, inev, it is an Eric Clapton super group, so if that interests you then maybe it is good.

Not as good as Surfer Rosa, that is for sure.

Yup, agreed.  Women are self conscious enough about their bodies that they don't need the majority of the boobs they see to be such a non-representative sample of surgical enhancement.  Particularly the real frequency of noticeable asymmetry.  Also, Snoopy Noses as a majority.

um, Eric Clapton.

... I really like his guitar solo on "I Ain't Got You," it's maybe one of my favorites. Just so basic and rocking. I love really simple 60s-style rock guitar solos.

you can hear this song here. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSTuONwPaN8)  The solo is just so... distorted and loud and great. Mmm. Maybe it doesn't fit in the song for that reason, though.

I think that if there were just more lady-on-lady makeouts, ladies would realize that 83% of all unhealthy images of female beauty are the work of over-competitive straight ladies and gay fellas who make women look like boys in their late teens because that's their standard of beauty and...

And basically push all that shit to the side and move on, strong in The Truth.

Granted, most of my opinions are formulated to lead to more lady-on-lady make-outs but I think this one actually has some intellectual traction.

I have always been interested in the phenomenon where... perfectly good looking girls I know, who had reasonably good body-image, were told by their mothers that they were ugly, needed makeup, were fat, etc.

I am not absolving myself of guilt, of course. I told those girls all of those things too.
Title: Re: 14 Jan 2008 - MARLENE FUCKS BALD PEOPLE

I think that if there were just more lady-on-lady makeouts,...

As much as lady on lady make-outs can be nice, even without dyking it out, as ladies we get to look at our own boobs all the time, our mom's boobs, our siblings boobs, our friends boobs and random lockerroom boobs.  Most ladies are fully aware that the entertainment boobs are not how boobs are supposed to be, and I think most men are too.

There is nothing wrong with the business of making money off people enjoying looking at people that are beautiful - it's one of the pleasures of life!  I like attractive people, and there's nothing wrong with being hot.  What I am saying is, that if the entertainment industry sets the standard for beauty, that the industry needs to come to terms with what is actually beautiful.  Breasts are meant to be beautiful - they're there, sticking out of the front of ladies bodies for a reason.  Uniformity, though, is not beautiful.  It's boring.  The exciting thing about boobs, the titillation if you will, is the mystery of what might be under that shirt!  Artificiality, in the end, is not beautiful either - we know the make up washes off, that eventually steroids will ruin what the drugs once made nice, and when it comes to beauty this is not beautiful (http://www.makemeheal.com/gossip/images/victoria-beckham-breast-augmentation.jpg) (SFW, but not what you want your boss to see you looking at). I am so sick of fake tits.  Seriously.  Seriously.

Inev:  Yeah, that shit is harsh.  I've had that experience first hand, it fucked me up pretty good.  I think it's a self projection + self hatred thing, and also a competitiveness and jealousy thing. [Self Edited: cut out painful personal examples].  It's shitty that this tradition of women demoralizing their daughters still exists.  I suppose the best I can do, the best we all can do, because we know better, is to work against that:  to celebrate the ladies around us beautiful creatures, and to let our kind words out often and without restraint.

Yeah, see, this is what I don't get.  My mom didn't have a great relationship with her mom, and she is (IMHO) too concerned about her physical appearance, but I don't think the two are related.  The ways in which my grandmother was cruel to Mom didn't have anything to do with her hair or makeup -- maybe because Grandma was raised by her dad and her uncle, so she didn't have a female role model around to pick on her (her dad remarried, but she was a teenager by then).

My mom told me I needed makeup and should dress nicer, etc, but never in a bad way.  Not like, "If you don't wear eyeliner no boy will love you," but more like, "You've got such pretty blue eyes, do you want to try this tasteful pastel eye shadow?  It would look so nice on you."  Clothing was a major issue as a teen, but that was mostly because grunge was "in" then and she resented spending good money so that I could look like a homeless person.  I think, though, that mom raised me first and foremost to be an independent thinker -- which I think she regrets a little because at some point (age seven?) I became so independent that I didn't care what she thought, either.  So, basically I don't wear makeup and wear my hair short and dress plainly and generally look like a lesbian (except for the large pregnant belly, I suppose, although there are plenty of ways for lesbians to get those too, these days).

Anyway, the "you're not leaving the house in that" argument is one of the main things that scares me about having a little girl.  I can't imagine what will be in fashion by the time she's fourteen, but I can imagine being pretty upset about her wanting to wear it, at the rate things are going.

Based on current trends in teen girls fashion I'm guessing that by the time she's 14 girls will actually be applying make up designed to look like globs of semen.

Yea, Id really love for the version of the future portrayed in Gattaca to become reality, where everyone gets tired of vulgarity and returns to the fashion and styles of the old times, where men wore hats and jackets and women dressed like women. Also, cars that dont look like spaceships or dildos.

Dude, that is totally a personal preference -- for the shaver, that is.  If some guy told me I had to shave my coochie coo, I'd be like, "screw off, asshole."  But some of us actually just find it more comfortable to be hairless.

I prefer hairy-chested men, FWIW.  Or at least men who are "natural" -- guys who grow no hair naturally aren't an automatic turnoff, but there is nothing that makes me want to bolt like chest stubble.

Yeah, I'm with ya, Bim.

It's one thing if a lady's private decoration is trailing up the tummy and down the legs and she wants to shape it into a traditional vee... I'm fine with that.

But bald or almost bald down there is just... weird and unnatural and at least a little bit pedo-y.

Stranges me out.

We are mammals! We have hair! It is totally fine that we have hair.

Hairy legs on a lady has never been a turn-off for me, either. I prefer that a lady shave her underarms but, then again, I think everyone should do that. I do that myself so that I don't have to apply deodorant more than once a day.

Nerd girls and sick fucks.

That's what's here, we're going to mostly end up covering topics for those two groups.

Sick fucks definitely have strong well-defined opinions on pubic hair.

Nerd girls definitely have strong well-defined opinions on luggage and scents and things.

It is the circle of 'net and it is okay.
