Achewood Variety Hour
« on: August 08, 2003, 09:53:58 pm »

Hey, maybe I'm slow on the uptake but has anyone else realized that the Achewood Variety Hour, actualyl has nothing to do with Achewood. It's Onstad's Variety Hour, but there is nothing Achewood about it. I was thinking it would be short stories by/about the characters or something but it seems as if Onstad has other ideas. Achewood is his baby, and it can mean whatever he wants it to but are we being led out on a thin branch and there doesn't appear to be any "fruit" hanging off the branch yet.  Maybe the tree needs more fertalizer. Plenty of that around here, we should bottle it and sell it.  Damn, hate it when my analogies take a life of their own.

Good point.  But he's not going to create a new site just for the variety hour, and besides, isn't everything onstad does in the online humour category at least *somewhat* Achewood related?

Only in the same way that the Dark Tower books are related to The Stand: by the original author who may choose to tie the two together at some later date (this coming November, in the new Dark Tower book, if you didn't know).

Wondrous Me actually has a point (for once! ha!) in that it kind of turns the website into OnstadPresents.com instead of Achewood.com, but only by virtue of not being directly Achewood-related. Now, if Miss PrissyOnstad has members of his Fit Fifteen show up in a strip or two, or has Phillipe "compose" diary entries for the Variety Hour, then they become interrelated, but that does not necessarily mean the Variety Hour fits into the Achewood Universe.

If I have a point, does that mean that at the other end I'm what, rounded, or flat? Or maybe I'm like a rock with pointy ends and flat parts and curvy parts and dents and... oh the Variety!!   Interesting how Onstad stated in the note that the Variety Hour is not open for submissions, he must have a plan on this for next week, or at least who will get to post their poetic rendition of their grocery list, or maybe do a modern art piece where someone scribbles random words into a chain to make structural sentences, but not actual complete thoughts.

Ahhh.. the real poetry in that poem is the spaces. The lack of characters, letters, numbers or symbols is the true expressions of one's self realization and awareness of one's place in the vast universe!
