Current baby status, 10/12: Another enormous plastic containment / entertainment device was purchased for the purpose of quelling baby's tears for an additional six minutes each day.

An ominous trend begins.

Ah, expensive child neglect devices.  The secret is, they only work if your baby is already accustomed to being ignored.

I'm excellent at ignoring babies and small children. Apparently I need to teach this skill to others for the good of our economy. Also, sanity.

Current baby status, 10/17: Babies are like little vampires, except all they want is to eat and know that they are safe.

Current baby status, 10/21: I didn't see much of the baby today, because she squeezed my eyeballs until they popped. She is seven months!

That's a shame. :(

I hope you mean the eyeball part.  The seven months part should be okay.

Ha, I was expecting them to have sold her by now.

Current baby status, 10/22: Today the baby said "ambo," which is not a real word, so I gave her a gently reproachful look.

"Ambo" is a real word.

I also remember particularly enjoying the Baby Update where he said

"Today we donned our merkins and frock-coats and fed the baby a thin gruel."

That was a pretty good one.  Did someone already mention it?

Also, an ambo, (plural ambos, ambones) is an oblong pulpit with steps at either end.

Yes.  In this very thread.  Which you would have known if you'd bothered to read the entire thing before posting.

You're not exactly covering yourself with glory here on TOUAMB, Kai.   Either wise up or, as Ray would no doubt put it, step aside and quit being a douche.

Kai gets a few points for defining Ambo, though.

Current baby status, 10/30: The baby ate her first french fry at Frytz today! Or, at least, a mashed-up bit from the eviscerated interior of a french fry. She was confused, but fed.
