Current toddler status, 10/01: Did you know that if you are working on a sprinkler head, and it starts spraying the kid while your head is down, the kid will just stand there in the spray and cry?

I think one of the most amazing things about raising kids is experiencing the world again as though you were new to it.  Obviously it works the same way for distressing experiences as it does for happy ones.  How would the kid know if she moved then the unpleasant water spray would end?  For all she knew, the world had suddenly become a stingingly cold wet place where you can't open your eyes.   Maybe she thought she'd teleported to Vancouver.

I thought he just meant lying around on carpet, in the same way one might 'get' a wave while surfing. But less active and with more toddler watching.
