Pierced Glasses
« on: May 19, 2006, 11:45:53 pm »

Man designs his glasses constructed to his head.

I think I would actually do this.   At the same time, I have three nipple piercings.   I've never thought about getting pierced where it is visible, but if it were constructive...

I think I would entertain this thought, should he move this project a bit farther.

Obviously this man never spends anytime around small children. A kid between about 6 months and 5 years would eventually tear those things out of his head.

Also, if they got anything on them, he'd have to go to some lengths to remove them to clean them. Also inconvenient around metal detectors and in the emergency room.

On the other hand, the absence of temples means they won't interfere with safety glasses, diving masks, and other face covering gear.

As long as I have two ears and a nose, I won't be considering this. Also, dude needs to run spellcheck.

I'm totally doing it!

except, no. eww.

too much chance for them to get ripped out. although I guess that solves the "glasses on or off?" conundrum during intimate times.

OK that reminds me. What do people with contacts do in this situation? call a time out to go take them out? keep them on, and have to get up afterwards to take them out? what if you fall asleep? This is probably a wierd question, but it bothers me.

as you can see, I am a teenage boy. this is the context I think of everything in. "hm. i should get contacts. but what if..."

There's very little chance of them being "ripped out" because the glasses themselves attach to a post with magnets (one on each side) so if someone yanks on one of them it will pull that half of the glassses right off.  No harm, no foul.

I like the idea, although I'm probably going to hold out for the Lasik.  I mean, at this point it's getting so that glasses don't really help much anymore.  So I need surgery to keep from losing my vision, not just as correction. I have no health insurance so I'm having to save up to buy myself new eyes.  It's only like $8K or so.  Per eye.

Piece of cake.

Anyway, these look interesting.  If I didn't object to piercings I might consider this.

This thread puts me in a terrible These Kids Today mood, and gives me the urge to answer theinev's question by saying, in some sort of stodgy advice-columnist voice, that if you aren't mature enough to be comfortable asking for a time out to remove your contacts, you aren't mature enough to be having sex.

But really, this has never seemed like a conundrum.  If the following activity is likely to be sleeping, I take the contacts out.  If it is likely to be awakeness, I leave them in. It doesn't really seem to be all that hard to predict. I think you can feel confident that it is safe to decide between glasses and contacts on some other basis.

yeah, I know. It is a theoretical question, only. That just always struck me as an awkward situation.

Dude, I don't care what wombat says, if you're in the middle of a romantic interlude you do NOT tell the girl you have to stop so you can take out your contact lenses.

Also: buy yourself a big box of condoms, take them out of the box and separate them into individual units, put them in the little drawer next to your bed where you keep your lube and other things (if you don't have a little drawer for condoms and lube next to your bed, get one) and then maybe practise if you don't think you're up to the challenge of taking one out of the drawer, opening it, and dressing Little Dan within about five seconds while laying on your stomach.

Or better yet - leave the lights on, and have your girl put the condom on you with her mouth while you take out your contact lenses.  See, there's time for these things!

Easy on the little guy! It all comes down to this: if your contacts are in and your at her place, and didn't expect to be there, and you do the thing, just sleep in them or if it's appropriate, head on home. If this is a regular thing, carry your case with you, do the thing, get up to use the bathroom, and take them out.

At your place? Take them out. Do the thing. Sleep soundly.

My biggest what the hell do I do with my contacts have happened when I'm called to the hospital for a friend or family emergency and it stretches on to an allnighter. If the hospital pharmacy is open, I could buy some stuff. If not, I've been known to take them out in separate paper cups, soaking in water from the water cooler.

Also, if those are held on with magnets, I would think you would have constant problems with them getting brushed off or falling off. Unless the magnets are really, really strong in which case pain at the piercing point every time they get brushed or struck. Narcoleptics maybe shouldn't wear these.

This seems like another case of "something I can respect highly in theory but would never, ever, ever do, because ow."

Also, I love how this thread has turned into Sex Advice For The Young.

OMG, sleep in your contacts?  Surely there is no sex great enough to make up for the pain of waking up after you have slept in your contacts.

I think anybody who would voluntarily poke themselves in the eye when perfectly servicable spectacles are available is downright mad.

What would be the problem with having the sex first, and taking the contacts out afterword?

Is the cuddling too special to interrupt?

I don't know the "in's-and-out's" of contacts.  It's glasses until the laser for me.

I was also wondering this. Also, doesn't anyone get up to clean up anyway? Maybe I am just too married by this point, but a little drink of water is nice afterwards too.

yeah wow. thanks for the advice? I normally wear my glasses... contacts are for when I feel like being fancy, or when I remember.

although, I've been told by many that my glasses hide my "cute eyes."

I am sorry if I made anyone feel Too Old, or Too Married, or whatever.

Oh, come on. Being 'Too Married' is basically just a euphemism for 'I have sex very regularly and have for years', and who can complain about that? I mean, you can complain about anything, but you will make yourself look bad by complaining about something like that.
