Like Judy Blume must've looked in her early thirties.

Oh man, I just got a boner...

I figured wiry and gray would make the pun less visible.

That's the only way to get there, August - you are indeed a genius! It's the closing sentence.

Quote
"The results are in, Judy-- you won! We'd better get your team together. In eight weeks you become Mayor!"

Judy finally enjoys a slow, relaxing breath. "Ahh," she says. "Mayor Nays. I quite like the sound of that."

You're definitely onto something.

All it lacks is either (a.) Nick turning out to be an homage to DC Comics' The Question or (b.) Judy turning out to be a female Highlander. One or the other. Both would tip our hand too much and make people aware we're trying to hide the story of Pastiche City and her foxy chief-executive, Mayor Nays.

EDIT: the actual final line would be "Mayor Nays... I like the way it rolls off my tongue."

Thankee for the well wishes, everyone.  The missus and the oldest made me a cake; how the hell can you beat that?

Other than by changing my last name to Naise, of course.

My enemies don't call me anything.  'Cuz they're all dead.

Happy Birthday, Mayor. I originally did not look at this thread because I did not make the connection that you are The Mayor. Many happy returns.

By having an attractive lady sit in the cake?
