@achewood Irish Nachos are a charming take on the original, but I wonder what Uighur Nachos would be like. A mutton leg on a crisped pita?

The strip

Depressingly, Ray Smuckles knows exactly what Americans want in their presidents these days.

You can't fault Ray for not knowing his audience.
Also it seems there must be a better way to get beer than Rick Moranis.

Achewood mentions GDP, worlds collide.
If american politics of the last 2 national elections is any indicator, knowing how to manage foreign affairs is a non requisite for election. Ray knows this. Ray just wants people to eat and have money.

No love for Mr. Dressup? C'mon now, Ray.

It is one thing to be strong, it is another thing to be emotionless.

It almost sank Hil for a little bit there and Ray ain't even married to Bill to save him.

Mister. Dressup.

Isolationist?  Chicken-in-every-pot-ist?

He'd have done well in the 1890s.

Hell, "looking too smart" is considered a disqualifier these days. Ray is innovating and going the extra mile as he always does.

Thinking about it, my favorite thing about this strip is that Roast Beef is just disappointed. He's long since resigned himself to getting a president who can't find Africa on a map. He was just hoping it wouldn't be his friend.

Yes, fruit names are actually a pretty useful thing to know if one wants to include a fruit in a recipe or shopping list or somesuch, and also just to add variety to one's conversation.  Maybe Ray's brain is angry because that single rogue molecule is too close to information he might actually have to recall sometime.  Ray does not want to accidentally remember Canadian history whenever he wants to remember what a monstera is.  Frankly, I can't blame him.

Ray just acts like Ray and TOUAMB splits into two camps:  snarky comments on America and aggrieved Canucks.

If we're gonna hang with Mr.Smuckles we have to be prepared that sooner or later we are going to come into his crosshairs.  Better than having Pat after us.

I love Canada. Most of my favorite music seems to come from there. Ray should be ashamed of the things he's said.
