"Having just awakened" - but that's just being pedantic.  Its a hell of an irregular construction.  Many English speakers would have said it the same.

Hey, no fair teaching the foreigners to speak in an elaborately "correct" old-fashioned, unnatural way. Don't you hate it when you're learning a language and they do that to you?
