Tea is for douches.

Do I mean for people I would classify as a douche, or for the activity of douching? I am not sure. But "Tea is for douches" is a beautiful phrase.

From a purely literal perspective, tea is a lot more like a reverse-tampon than a douche...

But I digress.

Only if you do it with a bag, people who really enjoy tea-douches use free floating leaves.

Now that its past the election and we are on the subject, I have to finally share that McCain joke...

Q: Why did John McCain put Sarah Palin on his ticket?

A: Because what's the point of a giant douchebag without a filthy cunt?

(...it's not my best work but, then, what is?...)

Barack Obama has died and he's standing at the pearly gates and he says to St. Peter "I'm Barack Obama the first black man elected President of the United States."  St. Peter says "Oh really, I hadn't heard that.  Congratulations.  When did this occur?"  "Last week."

Holy Jesus! I'm at the airport right now sitting down (of course) and this guy is kneeling down in front of this lady sitting next to me. He's complaining about something pretty personal and is toying with my backpack that is on the ground! He's fiddling with the zipper and his other hand is inches away from my* cell phone/boarding pass. The fuck! He just touched my boarding pass!

*Wow, up to this point the sentence could go in an entirely different direction. This whole post is a bit weird. I'm sorry.

I need a word to describe this concept:  correcting for individual stupidity when calculating scores for online reviews.

I've long noticed this on recipe reviews.  Say there's a recipe for a dish that is overflowing with spices, then a reviewer comes along and says it's "absolutely bland and tasteless."  I am forced to conclude that this reviewer simply cooked the dish wrong.  Like, didn't have half the spices and so left them out, or had spices so old that they lacked flavor, or put in too much liquid, whatever. The thought that they fucked up never crosses their mind; no, instead let's log in and post a review saying the recipe sucks.

Similarly, of late I've been scoping out digital cameras, and I'm astounded at how often a camera will get good marks, four and five stars, and then there's one goober who gives it one star and complains about their problems.  One that stands out was someone who wrote "This camera takes terrible pictures in low light," a comment that was not echoed by any other reviewer.  I'm about 90% certain this person failed to turn on the flash.

The bottom line, I suppose, is that many people are idiots.  Not exactly a news flash, I know.

I hope it's alright if I intrude on this wonderful angst fest to share this:

And the shit that is pissing me off right now? Transitioning to a new software package at work. Granted, tt has made many new things possible. However, some things that were previously so easy I didn't even think about them have suddenly become white-hot rage inducing episodes of molar-grinding frustration.

carlos-- I am wondering a similar thing about the reviews for winter coats I might buy.

I just need a review that says "I live in St Louis, MO, and walk about half a mile in this coat every day, rain, shine, below zero or up to let's say 40 degrees, and it is always perfect."

Internet reviewers are always a strange bunch.

What's clearly needed is a website that lets you review reviewers. This would solve all of our problems.

I wouldn't say that it pisses me off... or matters really... but I do find it odd that I've dropped off 40 cans in, like, three days.

I know that I'm not exactly the most, ah, level-headed guy on the Earth but I'd like to think that if someone were THAT pissed they'd either face up to the idea that its just the internet or, you know, barring that, "tell me".

Unless its just that the troller from assbar leveled up to a canning level post-wise, just so that he could waste precious moments of his life slowly de-canning me.

Then that's goddamned hilarious.

Inev, I don't know if you are a brand-picky person or not, but this $50 Old Navy coat is basically exactly what you are describing.

My latitudes are a little north of yours, but I think our weather is probably pretty similar temperature-wise. I have had it for two years, and I never wear my pea-coat that I thought it would be cool to have. That coat is only for service on the gotdam Arctic seas.
