I saw Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes do a very similar thing once.  He stopped the show after the second song and warned the crowd not to throw shit and also no crowd surfing.  About three songs later he stopped the show again and tossed a dude out for throwing a shirt on the stage.

Also, you don't get your money back if you are fighting.  Grohl is right, fuck that guy.

a lot of the information presented isnt so hush-hush anymore.  also, the spoken-word poetry delivery is way less cool than he thinks.  still interesting, though.
