This kid from my city has a bit of YouTube hit on his hands  There's something adorably youthful and earnest about how much this kid loves Jesus.  I'm being sincere about this.  I know it's hard to tell sometimes, especially from a lady such as me.  I've seen this kid interviewed, and he just... he just likes Jesus.

Dude tells a funny story, that's certainly true, but what are the actual implications?  I'm not sure that I think the field trip was necessarily a bad idea.  Should kids not be taught about the history of slavery?  Were the black kids singled out?  Were they forced to pick cotton? 

Seems to me that the actual experience could really bring home how difficult and wearing picking cotton in sun all day long could be.  Kids could learn more about what it meant to be a slave in a more real, visceral way.  Why would that be a racist thing?
