The Trees
« on: March 16, 2009, 10:36:57 pm »
The trees are coming into leaf
Like something almost being said;
The recent buds relax and spread,
Their greenness is a kind of grief.

Is it that they are born again
And we grow old? No, they die too.
Their yearly trick of looking new
Is written down in rings of grain.

Yet still the unresting castles thresh
In fullgrown thickness every May.
Last year is dead, they seem to say,
Begin afresh, afresh, afresh.

What a wonderfully nostalgic poem.

There is trouble in the forest
There is trouble with the trees
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their pleas.

My enemies don't call me anything.  'Cuz they're all dead.

You gotta love a band that can cross-brand a communist uprising with environmental awareness.

Oh come on, at least give us a bit of variety! If I were after this I could just open the collected poems at random. At least the typesetting would be better.
